 and the circus continues... If this collection made just one thing, it was grabbing attention! A lot more than Valentino's previous classic dresses. :innocent:

The HQ reveal the beauty of some of the pieces... Just an ethereal dream... :crush: Good to see some fairy-like opposed to typical sensuality...

The circus is this collection and thank god its not continuing... I get the whole "etheral dream" thing your talking about but...not all of the dresses are like that, as a whole its really cheap.

And even if this was attention grabing...thats not all ways a good thing. Valentino's previous classic collections never needed to get all of this attention, he was a legend all on his own, his place in fashion was already set in stone and from season to season he kept giving us extremly beautiful and elegant garments each one better than the last. He never failed. These "designers" need all this attention, Valentino did not.:p

I concur...and I am impressed how they took elaborate, highly challenging couture techniques to a new place in pared down modernity in a sea of "old" couture. The close-ups do some of these better pieces justice. Only other young designer I can think of is Tisci, who has attempted this with success for Givenchy. And there are some pieces here that remind me of their more applauded recent collections, such as this extremely desirable red dress, Valentino elevated to a younger, edgier feminite. This dress absolutely rocks, far more than anything recently put out by Monsieur Valentino Garavani.

Lol, okay, I didn't realize you were his publicist.
Circus is frequently used in describing the media but that is my opinion. It is a little silly to think you KNOW what he meant , I think it could be interpreted both ways.

why can't he know??!!
he reads, he gets it. there's nothing wrong with that. we all read something and we understand it, same as when other people talk and we get the intended message. same as when u expressed ur point of view and nobody told u that u are his publicist .
and yes, fashion may be about NOW... we cant expect old designs... but this is way far away from HC and Valentino. New designers should follow the style of the designers/brand they are working for now. well.. it is just my opinion, anyway.
when i see this kind of deviation from a designer's style... i get so mad hahahahaa.

I think THAT'S the main problem... He kept giving "us" the same, season after season... ^_^ But that's just my way of seeing fashion shows, I'm always craving for something new, fashion-forward... Even if a designer is a household-name, that doesn't mean that he shouldn't continue to innovate and creating new things... That's what a genius is, after-all (imo)... From my point of view, in the last collections, he didn't really do that... ;)
I 'm not saying that Piccioli and Chiuri are better than Valentino or that they'll ever be... But I think they're talented and that, in time, they'll learn how to use that more consistently... :flower: That's what I hope.

Oh, and I think the attention is good... Critics are always helpful, even if they're bad! :p

I loved this collection - by far my favourite. The use of pastels, mixed with different nudes was just breath taking. Also the make-up was stunning. love; love; love. Valentino when he was still designing always had gorgeous collections, but I love the new twist that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli brought. So romantic and light. Also the pastel hair was perfect.:heart::heart:

This is Valentino?

Looks like clothes from other designers.

Poor Valentino is probably facepalming to death.

I'm glad this disaster happened the clothes were horrible and disgusting, and hopefully the house will get bought out by the mainland Chinese and make it tacky. I was blissfully watching some of Alessandra's V collection on Youtube and was licking my lips because her clothes were gorgeous.

after his latest show, i'd love to see someone like prabal gurung get his hands on that valentino archive. it certainly couldn't get worse than this.

What a classy, intelligent, informative, illuminating comment that tells us all we need to know about the qualities of haute couture, *so* completely not bitchy, *so* not judgmental, *so* not insulting and denigrating of other cultures and peoples. Really reflects on the caliber, absolutely discerning good taste and virtuosity of these highly cultured, high minded "critics".:innocent:

Awesome I read you post and had a deep belly laugh! Great prose.:D

And yet, people continue to flood this thread... I've never been to Valentino's collection's threads before, so I can't say it accurately, but my guess is that his collections didn't gather so much hate/love pages... :innocent:

Really looking forward to F/W... Wondering what will happen...

Holy crap, this thread is out of control.
I thought everyone would be done boo hooing over the death of the ~amazing~ Valentino that hasn't existed in 15 years.
The showing in Paris next month is going to be out of control haha!

Well after seeing the Pre fall images, Im sure the back lash will be much worse cause that was complete trash. Atleast this hot mess of a collection had some kind of creativity:p

as much as this team disappointed me with this collection, kate moss looks amazing in this dress....
