Balenciaga F/W 10.11 Paris

Ghesquière thinks like an architect in the sense he's in so many dimensions . It's not just the front or back or sides that are interesting, it's everything . He literally builds off of the body and that's just too amazing and I honestly appreciate that !

I cannot wait for even more detailed photos !

I wonder why Nicholas referenced 2001: A Space Odyssey? I'm so curious to hear the relevance. The colour palette is strangely similar, especially the pastels.

GREAT EYE!!!

He's continued in the same thread; mixing banal street references with his heavy (handed) futurist aesthetic. I think it works much more here, it feels like something genuinely knew. But It still doesn't feel terribly wearable, or particularly desirable. As interesting as it looks, all of these super constructed silhouettes just don't seem right. I imagine this collection is much more alluring in person, broken down and mixed in with a less designed wardrobe these pieces would be quite special. But right now it's not coming off as "chic" which is something Ghesquire's older collections, as difficult and wildly futurist as they are, always were.

i would never consider Balenciaga doing this, it's genious
love everything in this show!

The most interesting thing about this, to me at least, is the combination of very clean, un-threatening lines and super high tech texture and detail. The shapes, for the most part, could even be considered boring, but the mix of fabrics renders them anything but.

I'm still not sure if I'm digging this as a whole, because some of the pieces really are overwhelmingly textural, but there are things I like. There's something kind of op-art about it towards the end.

I have been so excited for this show...and now...I don`t like it. I don`t like colors, this dresses.....I don`t see smth amazing it this collection, may be i`m blind. I think there is no need to say that he can choose amazing fabrics and make great shapes and prints - we always see it and we all know that designer like Ghesquière can do it. It`s always expected.
But this collection...I like only this suits

Everyone hated the SS10 collection but I LOVED it - it was almost high-tech couture to me.

Everyone loves this FW10 collection but I'm truly hating it, even though i'm usually a NG fan. :ninja:

This is one of the weirdest, clumsiest WTF?-type collections I've ever seen on a runway, completely rotund, awkward and unflattering.

Ehhhh, a real step down in my opinion. Idk, a majority of the collection just looks... done? Kind of lacking that Balenciaga innovation/touch. I love love the last few looks, with all the different textural components and shapes, but a majority of the collection, especially the first dozen or so looks, just look so... unflattering, and the creativity/vision aren't there either to make up for it, imo.

No, no, no. Do NOT create sculptural pieces that make these women look either shapeless or like total linebackers.

The ONLY thing I like is the newsprint tops a la the one Freja wears.

The rest is just... eek.

I have to say that so far I prefer S/S as well.

Spectacular! Though the dresses on Anabela and Siri are reminiscent of last season's. Overall, I liked it!:woot:

the final looks are just terrible, hating the print with all the words on it - not nice at all.

but the beginning and the shoes are truly amazing and i even like the fur.

I am with you on this one. Although I do think those shapes created with the unzipped pants/tops-thingy's (how does that work?!) look great. The quality in this collection is the use of color and this technological feel it has. I love the belted sweaters, those are fab. But those pants they're styled with, I dunno...there's too much going on in them.

I have to add though, those pants/tops/jackets pieces with the zippers: I am kinda worried about their rack-appeal. That is, if they ever hit the racks of course :p

This collection is just überfabulous, I love practically everything about it. It's yet another delicious example of combining the house's heritage with the high-tech revolutionary fabrics and techniques. Just amazing, nothing more to say.

Some pieces are WTF worthy but I absolutely loved the rest although I prefer the S/S 10 collection by far.
I'll give it a time, it might grow on me.
But the shoes, ohmygod, the shoes!

This is a rehash of most recent collections. I am feeling a bit let down. I was hoping for something different.

The shoes are ridiculous !!! I love them !
So many textures and materials and colours and the shoes will make almost any look amazing and unique .
