The outfit she wore to Meghan and Harry's wedding is brand new. You can tell by the extra material in the shoulders and the fact that the new piece has buttons on the sleeve.

Could it have been altered/refurbished by the designer? She might have needed a tweak since I don't think she's quite at her usual silhouette. I'm having a hard time comparing the sleeves in the various pix here because of the different angles ...

would the Alexander McQueen atelier really go to the time and trouble, of having a garment altered just to add buttons, add fabric and perhaps dye it a slightly deeper color?

One thing that some designers do go to the trouble of doing for her is having having items be slightly bespoke for her. As it may be untoward or crass to have anyone else wear or have access to the same exact item.

I remember reading that Diana had several of her clothing items altered in various ways so that she could wear them again. It seems reasonable that Catherine would have this done as well.

I’ve been doing this for years. I usually rotate between two dresses. My trick is this: if I use one dress to a friend’s wedding, I use the other one if the next wedding involves the same group of people/friends, so as to not make it obvious that I only have two wedding-appropriate dresses. Works like a charm.
