Christian Dior HC F/W 08.09 Paris

So far...I'm not unhappy! There are some pieces I really like, and I especially love the hats! That dress on Stam looks SO gorgeous and looks vintage Galliano which is so major! I'm not a fan of the leopard dress (John...no more leopard, please!) and I HATE that dress on Michelle Alves.

Otherwise, I'm happy that he's ditched the 60's, technicolor satins and gobbed on embroidery and embellishments. It's nice to see that he's refocused a lot of his attention to the cut and the draping of the garments as opposed to how much glitter he can put on it.

So far, I'm not 100% sold on it...I mean, I'd die if he started doing couture like he did in the 2002-SS 2006 era again, but this is a vast improvement from last season, so I'm happy!

That light purple/ pink belted, bow cardigan and sheer skirt in post #47 is REALLY, REALLY gorgeous! Nice to see John using sheer fabrics again!

So far, I would say the inspiration looks a little...late 10's early 20's? With the skull caps and some of the more suit-like looks and the set looking like some Gosford Park manor...I dunno...I'd be interested to hear what John says his inspirations were.

He's got alot of clients to please.. surely they will love this compared to last season.

"The demand for very, very high-end products continues to be very strong," agreed Sidney Toledano, president of Christian Dior, citing an increase in couture sales of more than 35 percent last year and a "strong double-digit" growth so far this year. "Very rich people are not suffering from the crisis. The workshops have been very busy," he said.

love the shoes, and hats :buzz: can not wait to see full collection

the last dress in post #53 is just amazing! well done, John!

Don't like the dress on Chanel at all...

So far the eveningwear looks ok, still a little dowager/ vintage Dior...but the dress on Olga (you can see her behind Viviane in post #53) looks really beautiful.
