Designer & Fashion Insiders Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

^ I meant the transportation methods, not the level of crime. Seriously, I think the root of the problem is frugality. I'm not sponsored by them I promise but even a company like Hizkia (with the highest standards, protocols, levels of confidentiality, next to no incidents, and serving the very best in Paris) will not charge more than $2k to move 50 low-value items from CDG to Balmain. When you're using companies that can't even afford a middleman, you stayed under $700 so.. there you have it.
This thief doesn't make any sense, those samples cannot be sold. They probably thought it was a handbags delivery and not RTW prototypes.
I agree there's some frugality issue here, because there are tons of much more valuable artworks (or jewels) which travel on the CDG - Paris route every day, without any thefts. Going after a ready-to-wear collection is quite odd.

there's a clip currently circulating on social media of iman talking about how philo never wanted any black models in her shows. pretty horrible and disgusting to be honest. apparently she is not the first one to talk about this. I honestly didn't know.

It's important to keep the principal of innocent until proven guilty. hearsay is not good.

The fact that this is resurfacing after (almost) exactly 10 years AND just when her eponymous label is about to launch. Someone is working behind the scenes...

Also, the irony of Philo being "Female-Gaze Hedi".

Iman has quite a selective outrage because indeed, Phoebe was against that idea of being « forced » via quotas but by Spring 2014, she always had black girls in her shows and campaigns…

‘Why selective outrage? Because Iman is also the first one to praise Hedi Slimane, who we know, despite how good he is in private, has never been an advocate of racial diversity on the runway…And even more in ads.

But people on IG won’t take the time to look at Celine campaigns and shows during Phoebe’s tenure…

I mean the source matters too and Iman saying she heard this first-hand, there’s little room for doubt. On the other hand, if education was something you stop receiving when you leave formal school, we’d all be screwed… we all learn and get humbled by our own past ignorance all the time. Binx was to me the quintessential Céline girl so it’s all.. I don’t know.. grey area now.

The problem with people actively circulating this on social media is that as usual there's no context and no nuance. Of course, few will ever bother to look into it further. This was standard behavior in the industry up until relatively recently. "But everyone else was doing it too!" doesn't excuse racist behavior, but are people allowed to change and grow? Has she exhibited changed behavior in the decade or so since she was meant to have asked if she'd be "forced" to include black models?

Iman of course can express her take on Phoebe, but like Lola said, where's her judgment for Hedi? Or for her husband Bowie, with his own history of controversial statements, like calling Hitler a rock star and being a vocal supporter of fascism. People change.

I'm glad Iman called Philo's *** out. There was no justification for pushing back against having to cast black models or models of color in fashion shows back in 2013 or ever. It probably took Iman's and Bethann shaming to get Binx on their radar.
It took Iman for the industry to wake up at large.
The real problem in the industry was casting directors more than designers. What Iman did is put the responsability back into the hands of designers actually….

Ps: anybody knows where Russell Marsh is? Is Maida Boina still casting shows?

Marsh has retired from casting direction (last known show was in 2015) and Boina currently does Hermès, Botter and Elie Saab.

When we think about it, it’s quite astonishing that the taste of one man defined the look of a whole era of models.
He was a bad apple and the industry is slightly better without him. He discovered a lot of girls we love but the industry is still paying the price of his decisions..

What did he do? I can't find anything on him other than the bribes.
Are we in a better place with Ashley Brokaw? at least Russell was Ashley without the hypocrisy and just general bulls*it.
What did Ashley Brokaw do?

Philo said "I'm going to be forced to use black models..." and I said "No. I mean, there's got to be the right black model for you. You know there can't be no black model that's not right for you."

Who honestly believes this? It sounds like absolute made-up nonsense to me. Where is the proof?
