Designer & Fashion Insiders Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

I thought that Diet Prada was not going t say anything after the last LV show, Im glad they did.

Love Diet Prada, however, I have seen esteelaundry getting a lot of press for being the beauty industry alternative - if you look at the high number of followers compared to likes/comments on each post I think it is obvious that it has built itself up on fake followers. There is only one DP.

I actually like this post from them. The censorship in China, not to mention their human rights (or lack of) situation, is appalling.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt, but when the Chinese yuan were rolling in they kept mum. And now, because they're no longer in favour and the country barred them, now they want to make splashy cartoon tshirts criticizing the culture's avarice (while profiting fitting from it themselves, btw). I mean, seriously.

^I'm on the brand side this time. The picture does not belong to her anymore. The brand paid her and that's it. They can publish the pictures as they have the right to throw them away. That also means they can use it for other things.
I mean I'm not a specialist on these things but I suppose models don't get paid if for instance, their photos get reprinted for another magazine.
Correct me if I'm right but wasn't there a brand/magazine using runway pictures as a promotion tool? I can't remember who it was.

Gucci in trouble for a black face sweater. After the whole Prada incident I would have thought designers and houses would MAYBE question possibly racist things but looks like Gucci didn't. The Prada keychain I thought was bit of a stretch but this sweater is pretty blatant and I'm surprised no one questioned it...but then again...

Either these Italian brands have the most clueless teams in existence or they are doing this for attention. The formula is tried out and simple - you release a racially insensitive item that could be seen as unintentional but it's still offensive, everyone talks about it, you remove it from the stores and send out a "heartfelt" apology yapping about a learning curve and making mistakes and strengthening the brand message about unity and acceptance. It's tiring by now.

Very disappointed in Gucci, especially after all the recent stuff with Prada. These Italian houses are really clueless.

It's the same thing with the Prada keychain, it's mindblowing that no one in the whole team said "Errr, guys... maybe he shouldn't do this one". How clueless can a group of people?

Do I get cancelled if I say that I don’t get this controversy at all? I mean the person who « exposed » Gucci was clearly looking for something like that. Result, it’s impossible to not see it.
People needs to chill sometimes..

I’m all for calling out people but I feel like we are reaching a bit too much.

But, it’s the internet, it’s our world...

Shameful.

Look at this and get a clue. And anyone else who doesn’t understand how painful the imagery of blackface is needs to look at this and get a clue too.

I know about blackface...I’m black.
That’s not the question...

What i’m Trying to say is that I don’t understand the controversy around that particular balaclava...which is actually a half balaclava.

If the model wasn’t wearing a black top with that balaclava, would it have been a controversy?

I don't feel hurt or offended by this sweater but I do understand that some people are and that it can be perceived as racist. The coincidence between this sweater and the blackface is way too big indeed.

But tbh, I don't have any faith in Italian brands...

^^
It’s insane... in 3 months, 3 Italian brands have been involved in racists controversies.
While I think D&G are just stupid (their issues are deeper than racism), Prada & Gucci highlighted how those people are living in a bubble.

And i’m not talking about the bubble of the fashion industry but the bubble of Italy, of Rome or Milan. It’s a whole world on itself.

Earlier, I mentionned how a social department was necessary for those brands but no actually. When you don’t have people in the creative process who can raise those questions, it can’t work.

And at Gucci, the styling is done in house...

The Italians are at it again! This time around I'm more shocked that it came from Gucci. I know there are some pieces which will probably slip past Michele's scope of influence, but this really reflects poorly on his all-inclusive marketing approach.

You said the key word: Marketing approach!
Kering just want Gucci to be seen as the sustainable, ethic, inclusive company but it’s all marketing... Like the Dapper Dan thing. They were wrong and flipped the whole thing around.
