This is one of the biggies in the Road to the Oscars. The SAG is quite influential in Hollywood and these can be a good indicator of Oscar success. At this stage with all the critics noms out as well it's becoming quite clear who are the main contenders.

Shame that atonement did'nt get any noms at the sags. Do you think the writers strike will affect the oscars or globes?

The Writers Guild has so far refused to give a waiver to the Golden Globes. If the strike is still going on by January 13th then the WGA might picket the show. What that could mean is that many of the nominees boycott the show out of solidarity with Guild members.

The Oscars are further away but they are being hosted by Jon Stewart who is in the WGA and he has honored the strike by stopping work on The Daily Show. So yes, it could affect the Oscars too. They might not have a host!

After seeing La Vie en Rose, I think Marion Cotiallard deserves every award in existence... the woman is magic on screen.

No JD at the SAGS? Wow. I honestly thought that he and Emile where the best bets to win... SAGs are the real actors award. At this point, it's gonna be Emile or Daniel. Cloony has a good chance at most of the other awards (GG, even oscar), but he's too movie star for the SAGs.

Golden Globes face boycott threat

This month's Golden Globe Awards are in jeopardy after striking writers insisted they would continue with plans to picket the Hollywood ceremony.

Organisers hoped last-minute talks with the Writers Guild of America would allow the show to go on, but the union said it would still picket the show.

The Screen Actors Guild also said it would advise stars to boycott the show until the strike dispute is resolved.

The Golden Globes ceremony is scheduled to take place 13 January. Writers have been striking since 5 November in a row over royalties for work distributed online or released on DVD.
