Why do models who allready have a contract with an agency participate in this contest? isnt that the purpose of participating to get a contract?

^I think it's good for all of them, most models are from rather small agencies. They will be signed to a better agency internationally, the mother agency gets money when Elite signs their girl and Elite gets new faces. Is that correct?

But are they being signed to Elite in Paris, Milan or New york? Or worldwide? Because Bailey for example is from NYMM.. so she already has representation in New york, at a good agency.

Quite a few of the girls are already signed with Elite Paris, and that's what they're competing for. And the others are mainly from mother agencies that are part of the Elite network too, so it's not like they "need" this contest to get signed internationally. Obviously there are contracts up for grabs, but I think of it more as a publicity event for Elite, really

Many (but definitely not all) of the girls are scouted specifically for EML, though - at nationwide open calls - or apply online after seeing advertising for the contest. So in that sense it does work as a talent finder. It's just the international spectacle that's a bit silly. Especially these last few years, with so many girls that are already working, and very obvious winners. Charlotte di Calypso, Jennifer Messelier, and Denisa Dvorakova all made very high profile runway debuts before they won the world final.

The top 15 get picked up by Elite Europe, and the top 3 win "money contracts" (ie they're guaranteed a certain sum in earnings, it's not a cash prize). Elite NY has nothing to do with EML or the Elite Network, it's a completely separate agency. You may have noticed that Elite NY never place their girls with Elite Paris/Milan, and vice versa. I believe they're not on very good terms since the split a few years ago...

^ I think this basically sums it up. E Management didn't last more than a few months, though. Such a failure. They represented Johanna J, Milana, Charlotte di Calypso and a few others
