Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows *Warning - Thread WILL Contain Spoilers*

Am I the only one who didn't picture Rupert as Ron? I always imagined him much taller and skinnier, with a long nose, I don't know

^

^ No, I was with you.

In fact, the other day I was just thinking about how Rupert looks more like the twins are described in the books, and the twins in the movies look more like Ron in the book!

i thought most of the actors looked a lot better than they were described in the book. like harry ron and hermione aren't supposed to be very pretty or handsome -- and yet they all are. idk? haha.

I thought Emma really looked the part in the first and maybe the 2nd movie, but then her hair just kept getting less and less bushy, and she became more and more like herself as an actress, not Hermione.

Here are mine!!

Ravenclaw: 81
Gryffindor: 75
Slytherin: 73
Hufflepuff: 60

I'm surprised by how high my Gryffindor score wound up being and I'm also quite surprised that the big gap between Hufflepuff and all my other score. I did expect to wind up in Rawenclaw, so I'm happy. Especially after reading about their amazing common room. :woot:

Yeah that's true. Hermione was suppose to be awkward, crooked-tooth, bushy-haired and Emma is pretty. Ron was suppose to be tall and awkward, but Rupert is tall and cute. Same with Harry...
But then I guess the actors got more famous and more famous and then bam! They're all dolled up and pretty.

^ Yeah, but Emma did look like that in the first movie - bushy hair and kind of awkward. She grew into that pretty young woman later.

^^ But according to the books, even in the Epilouge 19 years later, she had bushy hair. :innocent:

I remember when it was the Yule Ball and she discovered how to tame her hair finally and after Malfoy made her teeth grow she had them permanently sorted out. (GOF)

I thought the twins would be better looking than they were in the movies...

^the teeth are fine, we can't expect movie stars to go around with crooked teeth; however, hermione's awkward look can still be achieved with proper hair and make-up. i think if emma took the role more seriously and asked the makeup ppl to do her hair properly (instead of asking them to give her pretty curls), critics and fans alike would certainly give emma credit for her effort. that's to say, fans of the books wouldn't complain that emma is just playing emma if she had tried to embrace the character jk rowling brought to life...the 'girl power' element is supposed to be given to ginny weasley. emma's portrayal of hermione totally throws off that balance of realism and reduces other characters in the movies to fill in other roles, imo. seriously, we can't have two 'girl power' type characters in the main roles, can we? it's just not believable for the audience...i may bite my tongue if warners bros. can achieve this in hbp the movie, however.

I think we all gave up on Hermione thanks to that infamous line in POA:

"Does my hair really look like that from the back?"

Seriously, would POA era Hermione ever say that? Would she care? No. Maybe in GOF, but not quite POA early.

^ Blame the script writers. I thought that was stupid of them to put in too when you consider the character of Hermione but there are so many more inconsistencies in the films with comparison to the books.

^ Yeah, I mean, they weren't even going to put Kreacher in OOTP until JKR told them that he would play a major part in book 7. Think if she hadn't proofread- they would have been screwed!

I know, that annoyed me too. The way Alfonso Cuarón assassinated Hermione's character in general in PoA bothered me, but then again I didn't like the way he did the movie at all. :yuk:

I mean, where did Hermione suddenly get the strength of a body builder in order to pick Harry up and hold on to him while being flung around on the whomping willow? Was she using the time tuner to go to go lift weights between classes?

I read somewhere that he wanted her to be a "stronger feminist role model" in this movie or some rubbish. Dude, she's already the cleverest witch of her age. . .she doesn't need the strength of 10 muggles in order to be a feminist role model.

^ haha I remember that. The graphics were bad but I guess thats understandable; a one handed lift of Harrys entire body did look very odd

 I remember pausing from the book and analyzing that. But...
I will never give up on Hermione.

Hermione is so pathetic in Deathly Hallows. All she did was cry and whine the entire time.

I honestly don't think Emma gives a sh*t anymore about how she's supposed to look or even act in the movies. It's not like they are going to fire her, they can't replace her now. They probably could've after PoA but it's too late and Emma knows it.

R.I.P. to the HBP movie. Steve Kloves is the screenwriter and we all know it will end up with Super!Hermione in twice as many scenes as she's supposed to be in. Plus massive amounts of pink and sick blonde curls.
