Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows *Warning - Thread WILL Contain Spoilers*

Oh god, no. When POA came out, I went around imitating his 'HE WAS THEIR FRIEND' around for ages.

At one point, me and my best friend would call each other every night to rehearse that scene, taking turns to imitate Dan :ninja:

But honestly speaking, Dan is talented OUTSIDE of HP. I don't think I've read a single negative review of his performance in Equas, the early reviews for his performance in December Boys have been positive and he really stepped it up in OOTP.

That and I saw him on Extras and thought he was hilarious

True, true... he has gotten rave reviews for his performance in Equus, and he has probably grown the most as an actor. He and Rupert gave great performances in Harry Potter, and they could both go very far with wise choices.

(Except for Dan's... anatomy. A poster over at ONTD who worked on Equus said that Dan was a great guy but... :innocent:)

^^ Heheh. They're so adorable and I love how down-to-earth the three of them seem. :flower: I just love that about them and how they aren't in the tabloids 24/7. They seem like pretty grounded stars.

Diverging from current discussion,

Am I the only one who thinks it's absolutely adorable how James likes to mess his hair around Lily?

^^ Awwww I think its sweet too! I love how James tries to impress Lily despite that he is a bit arrogant. I believe that there was something about Lily turned off from James at first, right?

I'm stilll in total denial the books are over forever

I really dislike James when he was younger, he was the kind of guy who made other people's lives hell, to cover up his own insecurities. But I have to admit I think it is cute how he ruffles his hair around Lily :crush:

I agree younger James seemed to be very much the arrogant Fraternity boy type, but I think JK points out that it was youth and not an evil spirit. Lily chooses James over Snape, because Snape actually starts practicing and believing in evil. Calling people mudbloods and hanging out with Death Eaters in school. Eventually Lily is Snape's salvation, but only when Lily's life is threatened. James on the other hand was silly and arrogant, but choose to fight against the Death Eaters...another example in the series of how good and bad are not necessarily black and white.

Also, my mother always says if she had met my dad in college, she would have hated him  We are always growing.

Stephen King Talks DH-

"And so now the hurly-burly's done, the battle's lost and won — the Battle of Hogwarts, that is — and all the secrets are out of the Sorting Hat. Those who bet Harry Potter would die lost their money; the boy who lived turned out to be exactly that. And if you think that's a spoiler at this late date, you were never much of a Potter fan to begin with. The outrage over the early reviews (Mary Carole McCauley of The Baltimore Sun, Michiko Kakutani of The New York Times) has faded...although the sour taste lingers for many fans"

Really interesting Stephen King article. He not only talks about DH, but about its reviews and children literature in general. WARNING: Article is very very long (very, tl;dr crowd) and I didn't highlight anything because I loved all of it, but if you are a Harry Potter fan, it's worth it. If not, just skip this post.

Would it be wrong if I laughed at that part?:innocent::ninja:

I wanted to laugh, but had to suppress it because everyone else was silent and I didn't want to come off as a heartless... you get the point.

But no, you're not alone.:flower:

Question: Did you guys actually picture the actors as the characters?

I picture:

Jason Issacs as Lucius Malfoy
Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood
Maggie Smith as Prof.McGonaggal
Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom and
The Phelps Twins as The Weasley Twins

But I have my own visions of everyone else... :flower:

^^yeah, I did. Its hard not to once you've seen the movie versions of books. I usually forget how I pictured a book before I see the movie. So I'm really looking forward to seeing if Rupert actually runs around the cellar in desperation for Hermione as he did in my mind! :P

I didn't picture Emma as Hermione, but over the films--she has done well and I have really grown to adore her.
I definitely pictured Ron and Harry as Rupert and Daniel though. ^_^

The only one that looked exactly how I imagined was Maggie Smith. She does so well in her role imo.

(And oddly enough, Voldemort...)

^I agree

Maggie Smith fits the character to a T!

I love mcgonnagal

i don't understand. i thought mcgonagall had black hair...in PS, jk described mcgonagall with "a tight black bun" on her head. she used this description in the scene in the first chapter with dumbledore, hagrid and baby harry, as well as in the scene that happened 10 years later when mcgonagall greeted the first years after they got off the boat that took them under the castle. i always imagined mcgonagall as being much younger, like around snape's age hahaha. oh well, i'll always think of her that way, even though in ootp jk described her as getting on with her age and all, like the scene in front of Hagrid's hut and when she returned in the end of the book from st. mungle's. oh well. i guess the movie indirectly influenced jk's imagining of the character? ootp was the first book to come out after the PS movie was released.

I definitely pictured Evanna Lynch as Luna and Rupert as Ron and Dan as Harry, sort of. Oh, and Imelda Staunton was just as I had pictured Ms. Umbridge. She was great!

Yeah, Imelda was great... but I try not to picture Rupert as Ron just because of all the Hermione love going on in the seventh book. :innocent:
