Interview June/July 2016 : Haley Bennett by Mikael Jansson

All their covers and editorials look alike, I never liked this magazine.

Btw Haley will be in The Girl On The Train this fall. I suspect we'll see her everywhere once the film is released so as usual Interview is ahead of the curve.

I believe the film is only being released in September? This soundbite from Anna Wintour comes in handy, “It’s always about timing. If it’s too soon, no one understands. If it’s too late, everyone’s forgotten.”

I doubt this cover will get any substantial sales, weak execution aside.

^I really love it so much.
The styling is fantastic.

That Marc Jacobs collection is so editorially pleasing.

The last good magazine...I would have appreciated better models in the gothic story, but yah, Templer's styling never misses a beat, love the ref to MJ's killer show.

The celebrity story again highlights McDean's flair for celebrity portraiture, I sometimes think he's superior to this than fashion work...probably not as good as last year's set (that was really something to top), but fantastic imagery again.

Just want to know when we can expect the next Jansson/Templer fashion edit...

Looks like another one from the Mia Goth/Stacy Martin/Imogen Poots hybrid. I don't really know who she is, just checked her IMBD page. Not the type of films which would warrant an Interview cover.

The butterflies and KVA by Asap Rocky () is the only component which interest me here. Everything else looks very dull.
She's got a big year ahead of her, why shouldn't she get a cover? One of the leads in Malick's next film, a key role in The Girl on the Train...

Also, the theme is New Hollywood. Alicia Vikander covered the same issue last year... So there is a reason why they put on the cover for this specific issue.

You can do well to read my last comment. Timing is everything. Do you honestly think people will buy into this knowing her film is, what, 3 months away? Doubt it. In theory she's still virtually obscure. Anyway, Alicia Vikander had solid career prior to her 15' breakthrough. Maybe Americans could not have been bothered to find who she was, but some British and Europeans most certainly knew her.

I also wouldn't call her 'one of the leads', she's got third billing behind Cate and Rooney. Maybe this will be altered once the film is released, who knows.

I'm very much aware of Alicia Vikander's career prior to 2015, thank you very much. It's not as if she was obscure films. She was in Anna Karenina! Personally I think Bennett gave two very note-worthy performances in Music & Lyrics and Kaboom.

There hasn't been any marketing for the film yet, how do you know she's got third billing? I hope you're not going by IMDb which bills actors by their Starmeter. As of now, she's considered to be one of the leads. Malick is infamously unpredictable when it comes to editing so whether that will be the case remains to be seen.

I understand what you're saying however you seem to forget that Interview's approach to featuring celebrities Wintour's are completely different.

Interview doesn't really care about featuring celebrities on their cover just when everybody is talking about them or around their film release. Whereas Wintour and US Vogue is all about jumping on the bandwagon of the it-actresses of the moment or giving first covers to big studio projects like Dakota Johnson for 50 Shades for example or Rooney Mara for TGWTDT ( Even though W put her on the first).

In comparision, Interview put Jamie Dornan on the cover of their June/July issue months before the release of 50 shades , last year they gave Alicia Vikander, Donhall Gleesonn and Jai Courtney the New Hollywood issue cover before Alicia's name was everywhere, Domnhall was in some of the most praised films of last year but there's still some who don't recognize his name or his face yet. And Jai Courtney will only explode this summer with Suicide Squad. Clearly they don't care about visibility or putting someone on the cover thay we're already tired to see everywhere. This is not W's hollywood issue. They clearly want to feature new faces that are either starting to generate buzz or have very interesting projects coming up.

This is such a great issue. I'm so happy to see so many eds styled by Karl Templer. He really is a master at his craft. The goth ed could've been caricatural and predictable but his styling makes it so cool and effortless. Love the Most Wanted ed too . The styling and photography are once again perfect and make all of the actors look great. It's such a fabulous line up and beautifully diverse as well. W should take notes for their next Hollywood issue.
