Interview is taking inspiration from the “selfie” and fashion’s obsession with social media for its September issue. The magazine, which was founded by Andy Warhol, has melded its heritage of the portrait with technology, to create an Instagram-themed issue featuring eight alternative covers that are essentially self portraits of some of today’s most popular social media celebs. The magazine asked Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Zayn Malik and Mert Alas to take their own cover shots. In addition, Interview tapped 150 social media stars from fashion, entertainment and music to do the same thing for a portfolio inside the magazine.

How innovative.

The Queen snapping a selfie for a magazine cover? Brilliant! Andy would be so behind this. Finally a September cover worth buying.;)

So it's a Madonna by Madonna cover lol, her second cover for Interview this year.

But I don't like it.

Really awful and I don't care about other cover people either. I'm actually tired of selfies so I'm guessisng this will be a lousy issue for me. Selfies for september issue, really? This seems really lazy to me.

ugly and boring idea

I'm over Madonna. Been over her for years. I am only looking forward to seeing J. Lo and Zayn and Victoria. Everyone else are just dry.

Strange they didn't ask Rihanna to be part of this.

I'm really curious to see Zayn, Victoria and J.Lo's. Also I'm intrigued with what Miley will do this time.

The rest are meh... Kim, Mert, Madonna... Same old same old. The concept is okay but the casting could have been better. I would've gotten Gigi ++ the cast is popular but on social media? I don't think so.

Mert Alas a popular social media star? Lol.

Oh great, we waited all this time for this. Can't they do a proper fall fashion issue without gimmicks? I hope there are real fashion editorials apart from the instagram portfolio or else I will be majorly disappointed.

What a hideous cover!! Not only is the 'selfie' idea a quite redundant (didn't Kim Kardashian publish a 'book' months ago?), but they could've chosen someone more interesting. I dont get why it had to Madonna again. For September?? She's probably got an album to plug.

Hope to God it's a multi-cover issue, couldn't bear her face on my coffee table.

EDIT: Didn't read properly, IT IS!! Victoria or Jennifer hopefully. I just hope they'll ship at least a few options to the UK.

I agree it's a very 'Andy' idea and does fit the Interview idea I guess however I'm sorry, but that shot of Madonna is pretty darn awful.

I'll be checking back to see J-Lo, Victoria and curiously, Zayn's.

I don't mind Madonna's shot at all... I kind of like that it's not perfect... what I hate though is the idea behind the whole issue... and I didn't think anyone gave enough sh*t about M&M to buy their selfie cover and I am sure it is going to be overphotoshoped too;-))) and Zayn...I mean when you listen to the guy he hardly has anything to say... but I guess he can manage a selfie... not much personality but the last model iphone for sure...

Victoria Beckham :bounce:

PS: Madonna reminds my of Wednesday Addams

I think this might be just a preview...? the layout doesn't look very Interviewy.

Stuff like this makes me think Anna Wintour still does have her magic touch. When A supposedly "forward" thinking magazine like Interview does an instagram issue a whole year after Vogue's Instagirls cover. Not to mention Kim and Kanye's #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple cover.

If there is any magazine that can pull off something like this, its Interview, and they always employ the most unexpected celebs (- Madonna).

I am sick to death of the recurring Instagram and #selfie themes. It's so overdone, and not as creative and groundbreaking as these publications think they're being. Why would a purchase a magazine with that cover, when i can go to Instagram and see Madonna's page full of pics like that?

It just looks like magazines trying to be cool and down with the kids.

I'm excited for Zayn. I prefer him being backed by the industry than Justin Beaver.

I like the idea of this and I'm intrigued to see the other covers.

They could've picked better people, but then again it is mostly the famewhore who do this kind of stuff.

Here's Selena's:

so that's the actual layout? a grey background with a stack of pics? I hate them all just because of that
