bbs - use that white caviar! every time you mention it on bagswap i'm like, NOOOOOOOOOO! i would have bought it a long time ago, but i live in all black and i'm too rough on my bags to handle a white chanel. =/

cloudy - your bag does look fabulous, but as someone else mentioned, it's usually the structure of the bag that looks off in pictures. obviously when the bag is in use, the structure changes. also, the bags i mentioned are the bags i've seen that are consistently believable. i have seen other spot on bags here or there, but they aren't ALWAYS perfect, so i don't want anyone to think that's what i meant and buy based on that, kwim? i'm also jonesing for a metallic reissue, and like bbs said, it's $112-$125 bucks. i don't like a bag (besides bals) for much longer than that tbh.

crystal - it depends on your lifestyle. a 30-35 is best for me for work and travel. 35 is a bit big for everyday use unless you like a dramatic bag. 25 is far too small unless you're super petite or very young. i think the 25 can look rather silly on an adult woman.

sunspark - i beg to differ. in the past, i have had dry, plastic-y auth bals with the worst leather ever. seriously, a banana republic bag would have better leather. t&d's are just as luxurious as the real thing, i assure you. t&d's issues are in the details of the bag (the zipper pull, the seams, the wax finish on the trim), but they vary from bag to bag.

I agree, I have had dry bals with bad leather. I have Coach Bags with better leather than on some Bal Bags. t&d bags have amazing leather and really good details. Sometimes the details are off but I don't obsess over minor details.

The thing is though, had I seen pics of an rh Day from T&D on the PF, just a couple of shots, of nice leather, and no real up close shots of the hardware, I would just assume it's real. But seeing it in person I would know immediately it's a fake. The leather may look amazing in a pic, but the feel is not as luxurious as the real thing. There are details that are easy to spot in real life that are not easily seen in a pic.

i think it depends on how close someone is to the bag...

i was in nyc last month for fashion week, and i went to balenciaga to pick up a wallet...
i was carrying my T&D sapphire part time and got a few compliments from the staff on it...
now, they may have noticed it was off if they could have really inspected it, but who is going to do that?

i have both T&D and authentic bbags, and the T&D leather is comparable on some of my bags...
there was a period of time (06 to early 08) that balenciaga leather was not that great...

well I think J's metallic reissue is very close to auth. here's comparison pics between authentic (pic from ebay) and mine. there's just minor and slight differences that i noticed, but it's inside flap. yes the leather on auth is more distressed, but i dont think people could notice it's fake from across the street..

I agree with thesiren, definitely the Speedy 30. The 35 can be a bit too big. It's my favourite bag for sure! (well, next to my Anthra Brief that is!) What is fangfang charging for this bag?

arisaa: That's what the women on tpf say...that they can spot a fake a mile away, or from across the street. And then they're so shocked when a fake has been outed on their forum and sure enough, it's a bag that they themselves have oohed and ahhhed over! The truth is, some reps are just THAT good and you wouldn't be able to tell unless you actually handled the bag and were able to inspect it. Have you every seen one of Jacky's Chanel Flaps IRL? Pics aren't the best way to judge as they can be deceiving (just as some people have called auth bags fake from pics but they were in fact, auth). I think that Chanel seems to be the hardest brand to replicate well, but there are certanly some that aren't as easy to spot as you may think.

thesiren: I forgot to say that ITA that auth bags get stared at questioningly as well. I've had people ask "Is that real?" about my auth LV bags as much as they ask about any other bag I carry. Personally, I think it's SO rude that people even ask. A true lady wouldn't ask. But anyway, it's true, regardless of a bag's status, it'll get stared at and people will guess and be wrong a lot, either way.

Did anyone watch "The City" last night? Olivia Palermo works for Elle magazine and had an assignment to get fakes from the streets of NYC. They were doing a piece on how "low quality" fakes are and how people *think* they're getting something like the real thing at a low cost but really they're not. She bought a Chanel Flap and some LV Speedys from a guy on the street. Her boss (the Editor? I don't remember his title) picked up the Azur Speedy and said "This one is good! I wouldn't be able to tell with this one!" It made me laugh b/c that's exactly how most people who are against reps are. They think of horridly ugly, cheap fakes and judge all replicas by these bags. Then they see a really good rep and assume it's auth b/c (they think) reps are hideous pieces of plastic!! It actually really helps our cause though!! The bags we buy are incredible and no one who thinks reps are all junk from Canal St would spot our bags as rep!!

Ok I exaggerated about knowing its fake from across the street but I can still tell if its fake if I'm standing 5 feet away from the person (this is only the chanel flaps I'm talking about). But there are some really good quality fakes out there and I just bought 2 bags from T&D (still waiting for them!!!) so I am totally not against it! I just think that chanels are super hard to fake and doesn't look very good...

Olive oil? It's not a leg of lamb, dahling......try something a little lighter. You can get an actual oil for leather like Neatsfoot Oil Compound from a shoe repair shop or something. I have used that and light mineral oil in the past. Just make sure you let it dry between applications. If you do a search in one of the two previous iOffer threads you will find lots of information to speed up the patina for LV vachetta. Don't forget the trim, too!

Shelleybean-thank you, l'm going with speedy 30, I think shes charging 120. I'm getting the monogram for now, then later l'll get the damier ( I don't know what it's called the cream and grey checkered one) I figure that's more of a summer bag , thanks again for helping oh by the way, she told me to get the patina started I should use olive oil, would you recommend that as well?

CrazyC- That's the Chanel Rodeo Drive. I have a white one from Catty. She also has black and maybe silver I'm not sure. There are 2 sizes, medium and large. The large is way too big.

I agree with everyone about Speedy 30.. it looks really good as an everyday bag. I once got a Speedy 25 on Ebay and I was laughing so hard at myself carrying it and I'm only about 5'4"ish so I don't know how "petite" someone could be and not look ridiculous while carrying that bag.... I resold it right away on ebay needless to say..
