agreed. this is why i have to stay away from this thread. some fake bags posted make me cringe and people insist on congratulating. ultimately, all that matters is that the person carrying it is pleased with the bag though.

i think cloudy's bag is fab, but i do notice the difference in structure. that said, you would not notice that while carrying it as a bag slouches when weighed down with your things, etc. and the silver reissue isn't even in chanel stores anymore, so i'd have no issue waltzing in with that bag tbh. really, that's the ONLY difference when it comes to the exterior of that bag.

I recently got Framboise and Praline from the boys and they don't look quite as good (leather wise) as previous version of saddle, rubby red, etc. I don't know if it's just me but I feel their leather lost its shine and got thicker and very hard to fold (usually it's soft, easy to bend and fold with every movement you make)
I feel they're loosing their quality.

What do you all think about this?

LV Neverfull PM (from Catty)

This is the crease across the width of the PM which I can't get rid of, even after I've stuffed the bag and left it (stuffed) overnight. The crease can be seen even when the drawstrings on both sides of the bag have been pulled in. Hence, I carry the PM with the creased side alongside my body, so what everyone else sees is the smooth, non-creased side of the bag.

The warped handles. Now this bugs me. When I place the bag down, the handles will warp. I can't be carrying the bag all the time and usually settle it down on a chair when I'm dining out.

Last but not least, the top seam on both sides of the bag are creased after I carried the bag for a day with the drawstrings pulled in. The photo shows how the seam looks now after the drawstrings have been released. Are the creases here normal?

So ... I'm gonna take a deep breath and call out for those who're familiar with this bag, to point out the flaws you can see based on the photos I've provided. Should I be bothered with the flaws I've pointed out in the above photos?

Disagree. The Framboise is actually very close to the current batch of auth Bal bags. It is quite stiff, I will agree. But so are the auth Bal bags this season. As for Praline, I can't comment on it as I don't own Praline.

I understand where you're coming from. I am also used to getting smooshy soft bags from T&D and Framboise is certainly different from the normal soft, creased leather we are all used to. As for the shine, I actually like the current level of shine on the T&D bags. I found my Black GGH City way too shiny and really hated it when I first received it. But the level of shine is a personal preference, so to each her own.

Don't be disappointed in your Framboise. I think it looks perfect and I'm not being biased just 'cos I own one. There are some T&D bags I own, which I don't like much and I will certainly point out the flaws, if any. If there's any flaw to T&D's Framboise, it will be that the leather is very dry. That's about it.

LV Vernis French Purse in Violette (from Catty)

You can see the dodgy looking dustbag of the purse in the pic here. The interior of the purse is completely off. There are supposed to be 5 slots on the left and 3 on the right. Catty's only has 4 on the left.

This is how the purse looks on the exterior. The flaws can't be seen from this angle.

A macro shot of the flaw on the snap closure. To the right of the button, the finishing is uneven and a small part of it came nicked upon arrival. Can you see it?

The uneven finishing on the back of the purse, along the edge. The whitish parts are the flaws. These can be seen when the purse is held and are on the exterior. The whitish (unfinished) parts are more visible in real life than in photos.

Last but not least, the finishing on the edge of the corner of the purse is imperfect. It looks like the colour has rubbed off due to rough usage, somehow.

What is GOOD about the purse though, is that the stitching all along the sides is perfect. They are very aligned and there is no clumsy, double stitching to be seen. The colour is also spot on. The embossing is spot on too.

It's the poor finishing along the sides of the purse that bugs me. And the number of slots for cards and stuff, because I find the slots too few for me. These are the 2 main reasons why I will not be using the purse.

Conclusion: If the uneven finishing doesn't bug you, it is a good purchase. I think it's only US$35 or so thereabouts. Take note though that I had a hard time trying to slot my cards into the slots and almost broke a credit card when I tried inserting it into the bottom last slot (the 4th slot). I was trying out the purse and sadly, it's not suitable for my needs. But this could be because the purse is new.

xooey - all the creases are normal it happens to my auth neverfull as well. I've been carrying it for a month and the crease from when it came folded from the store is still there. I'm a little afraid to point out the flaws since me saying the chanel structure is off caused a little controversy.

xoey - the handles are the worst of the NF imho. but surely there's a way to flatten them? maybe try placing the bag on it's side and resting a few large books (photography, textbooks, whatever you have around) for a week or so to try and flatten them out?

then maybe place them inside the bag, facing downward (onto the creased side). overnight will not do for either problem, i can tell you that much. if you have a hand steamer, you might also try running it gently along the interior of the crease (on the fabric side).

I have tried straightening the handles by placing some belongings in the bag, then hang the bag by the handles off a clothes-hanger overnight. It didn't work and the handles remained warped. I think I will try thesiren's method and flatten it with heavy books. The crooked handles are such a dead giveaway, ugh.

xooey - thanks for your reply. I really like the shine cuz I own older auth balenciaga bag and I love the soft slouchy-ness to it.

I would have to say that the framboise is better than the praline
however I still miss the older type of leather

I'll go to nieman to check on the real B bag's leather.

BTW does anyone know if B Bag suppose to be always shinny (I'm talking about their recent production) or it depends on which color?

the praline (from pics posted earlier in this thread) looked similar to old t&d bal leather, imho. really crinkly, somewhat distressed and shiny (which i like).

auth bals vary from color to color, season to season, hell, batch of leather to batch of leather, so there's no surefire way of saying a bag isn't auth because it's leather has certain qualities.

Just to update you all on the my Black Leather/RH City dilemma. I emailed the boys last night asking what the state of play was with continued batches of black leather and here is their reply:

"Now that the tannery is fully aware of the leather we want this type of
leather will be a standard throughout all our colors.
So you'll able to the same fab leather next time you order."

So it's looking good for our future black Bal orders. I hope they are right!!

The praline is definitely thicker, not shiny AT ALL, and super super wrinkly. However, I love it because, I hate thin leather, I think the shine looks cheap (again, personal preference) and the wrinkles I can live with.

arissa: Well, across the street isn't much of an exaggeration compared to the gals who claim they have a mile long radar! Sadly, I do agree with you. Chanel Flaps are hard to replicate and never are 100% spot on. I'm bad with this because I'd rather have the "ignorance is bliss" attitude and not know what's wrong with my bag. Mind you, I want the absolute best rep possible, but once I have it, I'm happy to be unaware of what's wrong with it! But if you have an eye for detail and know what to look for, I'm sure you can probably see 'em coming way before most people. As gorgeous as auth Chanel Flaps are, I (like thesiren) can't wrap my head around spending 2K+ on one. Maybe one day.....just breezing into the boutique and browsing with the intent to buy would be delightful!

thesiren: I too have seen bags posted that are very obvious fakes....and while I certainly don't mind people congratulating the member on getting their bag, I'm not going to lie and say the bag is amazing or spot on if it's awful (like T&D's turq/aqua that I had...there is no auth color that it matches...but the leather is incredible).

While on the subject of posting pics....I feel like it can be hurtful for some members who just want to share pics of their bags (since we all beg for pics and love seeing them) to have them picked apart and scrutinized. Some people want and appreciate the feedback, other's don't. Maybe we could have a system when people post pics and say "Just for fun" or something and then people who want their bag critiqued can say so... Idk. Maybe this is a total non issue, but I think some would be more inclined to post pics if they knew their purchase wouldn't be dissected....?
