goodnightluck: My friend has Catty's mono Speedy 40 and the alignment and handles are great!! The only thing is the piping on the bag doesn't seem to be genuine cowhide leather. It wouldn't patina like the other leather did. :(

uiggu: T&D def aren't Chinese. :)

PinkPrincess: Thanks for re-posting socali's post about T&D!!

ITA with eskielvr!! I think English is their first language. They understand all sorts of idioms and and phrases that I use. Typos are pretty rare in their correspondence with me. They're generally just the ones I make, like saying "I hope you like you bag" instead of "your bag", etc. Just little mistakes anyone could make. Nothing that indicates that English isn't their 1st. Also, T&D aren't brothers so they don't necessarily have the same ancestry!

Dominic Monaghan is German...tall, pale and blonde fits that...but also, first names aren't a dead giveaway to one's race. Those may not even be their real names!!

Anyway, they're living in China but aren't Chinese. Makes me want to move there and be a one stop shop for the best reps. $$ :) ;)

Oh and I like '07 marine. I want something dark. The '08 is too light for my taste. Thanks so much for those pics!!

coco109: I LOVE you AG Day!! I was so sad to have missed out on that color. It's just stunning!! I have the grey Day too! The leather is absolutely phenom!! Pure butter. The silkiest leather I have....it's different than the VD but similar in quality!!

ame: ha! I told you you're way hott in those pics!! The Brief looks great on you!!

Thanks to all those to lobbied with ame and me to get the Brief!!

Coco109, what a beautiful grey!!! thanks for the pictures. I actually prefer that color rather than argent.

Devon, bal's mark-up is definitely crazy, but then we have to take into account the amount of $$ they spend on marketing, rentals, etc. Remember, T&D sells online for practically no cost.

I have definitely stopped buying auth Days, because there is practically 0 difference, its just not worth it anymore. I will still consider buying auth giant Works/Cities though, for colors I cant live without.

Do you ladies think that if I ask T&D for a black city, they will use the thicker leather they have been using for their recent colors? I don't want the thinner leather they use before..

All you can do is ask! I assume since their leather has been on point with their most recent bags, that black would be no different. I'd shoot them an email though, I know they're doing a run of black right now.

Coco: You have a great collection! I adore your Tempete! I so hope they have something similar this next go round!

Very true about the marketing!

I have Jacky's speedy. It is spot-on as far as alignment and handle length etc. I got it in March so it would be from a fairly current batch I guess. It is an exact match to the one posted on the vuitton website as far as logo and handle placement on the canvas goes. HTH
PS-I'm kinda diggin' the 40 lately too.

EDIT - Catty does have speedies (item# LV001) on the last page.

Thanks for the input babybluestar and shelleybean!

Shellybean: That's funny because when I searched speedy it didn't come up, but I guess you just have to look through all the pages!

Has your speedy had good patina?? Has it been durable so far?

Yeah the 40 is so roomy, it's great.

I have never used the search function for anything on catty's site, mainly because she doesn't use the names of bags in the description and I figured nothing would come up.
My speedy has a "vintage" patina to it because I like it to look that way. It was achieved using the bbs patented tanning method. ;)
I load it down pretty good and have often wondered how much heavier I would have to make it before it broke, but so far, so good. I have a base-shaper in the bottom, too. Some people like the sagginess, but IMO, sag is not good. For anything!

I actually have another Louis Vuitton cabas alto tote that I would like to have more patina.. what is this "bb patented tanning method"? I have never heard of it...

Agree with you %100 saggyness is not all that attractive!

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing last week when I was out shopping. Seeing that $2075 price tag on that Raisin Midday made me want to chuck. I suppose they are known for their delicious leather and all, but to be honest, I've seen gorgeous soft buttery leather on a lot of non-couture bags too, like Cole Haan for instance. HR was having a pretty big sale, up to 60% off their last season's bags (and shoes!) and there was a Marc Jacobs bag I have been wanting for a while (the Faridah or Totally Turnlock?) and the Marc by MJ version was on sale for $375 or something but the regular Marc Jacobs one was $799. I just kept looking at it and thinking.... Why on earth would I want to buy this? Yes, it was nice, but I really didn't think the leather was TDF! And.... as much as I LOVE Tod's there is no way in you-know-where that I am going to drop $895 for a nylon pashmy hobo. Nu-uh, not gonna happen. For those of you ladies fortunate enough to live near Desert Hills (CA) or Woodbury Common (NY) outlets I am totally jealous, that's a once a year trip only for me. *albeit a VERY expensive one
BTW-I am seriously thinking about getting a T&D bal soon. I know, I know I said I wasn't a big fan, but when I saw the auths last week, I don't know, something kinda clicked. Maybe it was the giant hardware, I hadn't seen/felt an auth in several years and I don't remember seeing it in person before. Maybe it was the raisin midday. Could have been the Street, OMG! it's like the Brief's little sister!
I'm almost converted..............

Thanks for the blue clarification Kimair:)
Nice pics Coco - I think that's the best commendation for T&D's bags - when someone that can buy auth buys T&D too/instead.
Not sure why my last pic didn't come out but here is one that shows more diff in color - taken with flash. Again, pic from TPF:

talking about bbs's patented tanning method. ok girlies, i have a problem. i've been tanning my catty-bought bag but there are white bits on the leather that refuse to tan? as if there are scratches in the leather?:blink:

anyone else, experienced problems like this with larger bits of vachetta? ie that there are uneven strange white bits that are to stubborn to tan???:(

HELPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've tried to take pictures of it, but they haven't quite turned out very well. but i'll attach one anyway. oops er, those weird black circles were me trying to highlight the problems. should have used a bigger brush. but just click on it and you'll be able to see it? TIA!!

oops, could it be something on it preventing the oil from soaking in??

I'm using bbs's patented method also :p And I have a feeling part of the Vachetta isn't vachetta at all. :(
Some of it is tanning while the piping isn't!

Yup, you're a virgo allright!
You mean those miniscule dots? I can barely see them. It could be from the glue used, maybe it dropped on, I have had it happen to me before. It looks so minor I would not worry about it. Of course now that you know they're there, I'm sure it's all you can see. You should see my Deauville it's got water marks all over it, it looks soooo vintage. I love it looking kind of beat up like that. I always use it as a carry-on so it looks very well-traveled.

They are 100% Chinese. You can tell from their English, and the particular grammatical mistakes they make that are definitely not a native speaker's typos. I live in Japan and have got to know Asian people's English foibles... and those two are not Brits/Aussies/whatever they make themselves out to be. Plus, they misspelled 'Kirkcaldy' on their Paypal business name. (Kirkcaldy would also indicate they're Scottish, which leads me to another point: as a Scot, there are very few men named Tony and Dominic here!! :p) I mean, I don't care what they call themselves - they've always been really nice over email - but I found it interesting that they gave themselves this persona in order to be less threatening/more approachable to their Western female customers...
[/QUOTE]

Do some of you recall that one of our board members said when they were in China they met Tony and Dom and said they were Aussies???

Well they say on their iOffer page that they're "westerners living in China". I'm not Australian but last time I checked Aussies didn't refer to themselves as "westerners"...besides, Oz is east of China

shopaholic: please lemme know if u hear back about the new black leather. i really hope it's thick and chewy. my poor black RH city is old (with thinner shinier leather) and i def want to invest in a new black bal...

ok i went back to the first thread and this is what socaligurl80 wrote:

 they definitely had an accent.. I remember someone asking me if they were aussies but not sure, I don't know the difference between a scottish/aussi accent. (I can barely tell an accent from a new yorker and a californian!!)

He was definitely VERY tall and VERY white, with VERY blond hair.. I think (can't recall now, I guess I didn't really look carefuly.. well, more than that, he was so tall I didn't even reach his chest :woot::lol:)

HTH! oh and she met DOM'S BROTHER.

Scottish and Aussie are pretty different accents...

That reminds me of when I was in England, these guys told me I had the same accent as Britney Spears...LOL...I live in Vancouver, Canada and she's from where...Louisiana? Our accents sound nothing alike...I don't say y'all and I definitely don't have that Southern drawl :p

Hey bbag fans, I remember a couple of you talking about colour/size/hardware combinations and I'm wondering if you could refresh my memory. I know this is all personal preference, but didn't some of you say you did not like Giant Hardware on Cities? It made the bag look too small? Or was that just Firsts?
So, size-wise it goes...
First, City, Work, Weekender?
And the Twiggy and Part-time are similar dimensions? but the PT is bigger? They both look a little long to me, longer than the others in proportion.
These, besides the Brief and Day, are the only styles T&D do, correct?
I know I mentioned the new Street, but there's a Pony, too! It's the Day's little sister. Like T&D would ever make those!
