It's pretty clear how much thicker the current leather is, compared to the old, thin leather.

lady_B what CHANEL are you considering? I feel that this thread gets a lot of Bbagfluenza, but not enough Chanel chatter.

I'm considering a Chanel from Jacky as well, but the stock isn't as extensive as I'd like whereas Catty's has a bit more variety. I've only bought one rep Chanel and it was a disaster (in my mind: inaccurate hardware marking), but everything on this thread gives me confidence to try again!

I remember someone comparing OMAS's with Jacky's and saying that there wasn't that big of a difference, especially given the $300 price difference.

I have never had anything happen to my RH bags when worn in the rain but that is aged brass. As for the GSH and GGH, I would not carry those bags in the rain but that is just me. I have certain bags which I save for rainy days
like my Ergo Patent Hobo and my Dooney All Weather Leather Green tote which are virtually indestructable in the rain. If it worries you don't carry them in the rain.
