i'm thinking of getting the sandstone GGH Giant Money as well.. but am tired of waiting.. but sandstone is one of the colors that i missed out.. and i love to get a piece of it.

Shelley: Fantastic post! I'm such a believer that attitude has more to do with it than anything (for 90% of the people we encounter...obv they are exceptions). Do you think anyone knew Olivia Palermo's Birk was fake? I'm guessing most people (her snotty Upper East Side friends included) had NO idea. Of course if you parade around with it on MTV you'll get caught, but if she hadn't, who would of ever known? Of course we're all here bc we want the best the rep world has to offer...so the bags we carry look nearly identical to the authentic counterparts. And I understand wanting to know a bag's flaws...I'm just happy when the thread is buzzing with excitement about new bags/colors/styles/wallets/accessories! It's so much for fun than dwelling on the itty bitty flaws that don't much matter anyway. This thread has been very fun lately and I love the Letterman list! Here I have one to add:

The member with zero posts who wants Jacky's info then uses her first post to complain about Jacky changing his site all the time.

MaLena: It's a total risk with the red edge dye. I did a group order and there were two Azur Speedys in the order (so they were selected at the same time and shipped together). The one I'm keeping is red, the other one is the correct, more honey colored shade. You can ask Jacky for the correct shade..but you know how that would go.... Gotta love J and his PMS. I'm not worried about it b/c when the bag has a patina it's not as noticeable. Also, I'm going to use something abrasive and rub it out a bit. it's a really good rep...I think it's worth the risk!

Since the subject of "rockin' your bag" has come up.......
I'm wondering if any of you have a bag (HG or other) that you love but just don't feel comfortable carrying? (and I'm talking about a 100% perfect rep)
For me, it would definitely be pretty much anything from Hermes. I mean c'mon, the frikkin' zippy wallet is $2250! A pair of $650 sandals? No problem, but an $8000 purse? Never gonna happen. I love love love the Lindy right now, and I have no idea how much it costs but I have a feeling it's probably in the $4-5000 range. Somehow I have a feeling some of my friends would not have a hard time believing I would pay a couple thousand for a handbag, but it's not them I'm worried about. It's the stranger on the street, the lady at the Shiseido counter - I don't know why because I really don't give a poopy poop what most people think. Kelly, Birkin, Lindy, Massai, SO Kelly, Bolide... all gorgey, but realistically? The jury's still out on that one. (PS-don't be surprised if I flood the thread with pics of my new Raisin/Violet Lindy next week - I'm just kind of a freak that way)
Another Bag I lust after is the LV Mahina XS in Biscuit or Cognac. But at $3030, can I rock it? (BTW: anyone seen the new Burgundy colour yet? gorgeous!) I know not everyone knows the prices of these things, so I probably shouldn't be so freaky-freaky about it. I just have this thing, where if I go into major sticker shock, then I usually stay away from the rep too. $730 for a speedy? Where's my change jar? (j/k) $3000 for a Mahina?
I rarely leave the house without looking somewhat polished (polished=nails not all ragged, hair smoothed even if in ponytail, sheer lip tint at the very least and ironed clothes that fit my body) you never know when you're gonna run into your ex with his new dumpy looking gf in the produce aisle. Serious! It happens! So I guess my question is this, is there such a thing as "TOO MUCH BAG?" I mean I understand where some people are coming from when they say they'd just die if they carried a bad rep. And don't give me that "Jane Birkin wears sweatpants with her Birkin" crap. I'm not Jane Bloody Birkin! Nor am I a supermodel (though I am kinda fabulous).
What do you guys think? Is there something you feel you just can't pull off?

PS:bagalicious, I really need to take some mod shots so we can have a lens-off but seriously, there isn't enough vaseline in the country to smear on my camera lens. You think Baba Wawa would let me use her old "soft lens", you know the one old people used before HDTV?

shelley: I feel the same way about Hermes. There are a lot, I mean a LOT of people who would have NO idea how much any LV bag (much less the Mahina) cost. But anyone who knows a bag is a Birkin knows it carries a ridiculous price tag and a waiting list. That's why I still haven't purchased a rep Birkin and still go back and forth about it. I want to be very breezy about it and carpe diem...but I just can't seem to take the plunge. Though not as fabulous as you, I'm no scrub myself and I can look quite spiffy when all dolled up...but people know I don't have $1,000s lying around in a handbag fund...with a Birkin, I'd HAVE to end up answering a million "is that real?" questions and I'd just rather not. Since Hermes still hand makes and hand stitches their bags, the price is much more justifiable IMO. Now I'm not saying the price is fair....but 8k for a handmade bag makes more sense to me than $750 for coated plastic with leather trim..... I still plan to buy an authentic Birkin. It will probably be for my 40th birthday (which is more that a decade away)...but I will own one someday. I'll have a fantastic (and true) story to tell about my Birkin fund and the years I spent saving, dreaming, etc. And you know the great thing about that? When you have an authentic Birkin, all of your other bags magically become authentic too! Who would think someone with an authentic Birkin would have replica Speedys?! That's my brilliant idea anyway... I love the Birkins posted here and I don't in any way put anyone down for having a rep! I think that women who carry authentics probably get questioning looks as much as anyone...having an authentic is no guarantee people will think it's authentic.... I realize I am utterly contradicting myself right now, but it's because I see both sides of this. Both sides make sense to me. I probably WILL buy a rep because I want to make sure I like the style/size/look/feel of the bag.... I just may not use it a lot...

Ohhhhhhmy: Do you have beausac's info? Their Birkins are said to be really good! They have a lot of colors and angled stitching.

Pictures of the Mulberry Alexa are starting to show up. It is a really beautiful bag. I really love the Mulberry leather and they way it patinas as it ages.
I have to have one of these bags this season. If I only get one bag this year it is the Alexa. Here are pictures of the Oak Alexa and the Ink soft Buffalo Alexa.

That's the thing, tigerlily, I don't think the majority of people do know there are really great reps out there. All those women that proclaim to be able to tell a fake a mile away? They've obviously never seen a bag from T&D, have they?
My reps are all very passable as well, I have one or two that are just ICK, but I don't carry them and I've been meaning to toss them in the dumpster. I wouldn't carry a plastic Chanel or a mono LV with a crooked pattern or fauxchetta handles. Grody to the max as the valley girls used to say.
Like what BBS wrote above, sometimes carrying a certain bag really opens you up to the "is that real?" question perhaps a lot more than you'd like. I've only had two or three people ask me if my speedy was real (the only recognizable brand for them) I just look at them in horror, and disgust with a look of shock on my face like... I can't believe you would ask such a thing! But I've never actually had to say that! <--- even that doesn't do it justice!

I need to add some Mulberry to my collection but I don't know what yet. Not a Bayswater, though I do like them. Hmpf!, well maybe it's not totally out of the question. I'm partial to the Mabel Messenger, and the Hobo. I kind of liked the Agyness from last spring? as well. And the Abigail. Bit slouchy for me, but I like it. Nice thing about Mulberry reps is if the Oak colour is slightly off, it'll patina up nicely. I'll bet no two bags patina the same.

Shelleybean: That is exactly what I love about the Alexa - it looks like a Vintage School Bookbag from the 1950's. I think that I will have to have it in my collection and maybe even more than one. I do love the Mabel Messenger and the Hobo as well. I just ordered a Bayswater Oak Rep and I know that it will patina nicely and yes no two bags are alike in the Oak color. I can't wait to receive it. I will post pictures once my Bag starts to Patina.

Eeks, the Alexa looks wonderful. How's the leather though? I want to get either an Alexa or the PS1 or a school bag for files and papers and all but I'm not sure which one. And what colour?! Only one though, they are too similar in function for me to get multiples. No money also

How's the quality of the reps? I'm asking about the the leather, how much it stretches and things like that. My bag will prob be an everyday for school until the straps break off and I can't carry it anymore kind of bag.
