asl_bebes: :woot: That is one gorgeous Stam. I can't stop staring at it! I love the colour. It's just so rich looking, both in terms of colour and the overall vibe you must give off when wearing it. Now, I don't know a lot about them so whether or not it's a perfect rep I don't know, but the overall details look great at first glance and the leather looks soft and supple, mmm....yum! Looks hardly worn, do you get much use out of it?
Glad your hardware is more brassy because that's what I'm seeing with all the reps with the suede interior. I checked out photos on tpf and some are brassy, some are shiny and in some pictures it's actually really hard to tell.
No offense to anyone, but it's just so nice to see pictures of non-Bals on the thread.

Thanks shelleybean:flower: ... I did use it quite a bit when I first got it but I admit I haven't used it in quite a while though. The only reason I haven't gotten rid of it is that it is a nicely made bag. The leather and suede lining are both very supple, definitely not stiff at all ... it's still a fabulous bag.

Hi girls, I am a newbie here and I find this thread very interesting! I am very tempted by some of Jacky's bags. What I wanted to ask: where did you get your items shipped? I mean at home or do you ask to be delivered at your workplace?
I work during the week, but I feel quite uncomfortable receiving the parcel at work... What do you usually do?
Many Thanks!

since i work during the day, and with jacky you need to sign for the package to receive it. i always miss the delivery so once the delivery guy leaves the "you missed your package" slip, i say that i will pick it up at the post office. then on saturday i go pick it up. i would feel uncomfortable receiving the package at work since it's usually in a conspicuous looking box with lots of tape around it, also, i travel from client to client so the place i work isn't really "my" office.

The dye job: NBF's Aquamarine to Black

Hi all,

Here are all the pics I took of my DIY dye job of my aqua work with RH to jet black. It's not perfect, there are some "dots" and a few streaks because of runaway dye. Several posts follow with many pics.

That said, I use Fiebing's penetrating leather dye in black. Three coats with at least 24 hours drying time in between each coat.

I finished with one coat of Tarrago #18 black self shine.

The bag is shiny, but I'll maybe condition it after a week or so if it doesn't settle down.

The aqua wasn't super veiny or smooshy (as I like my NBF leathers) but it's on the thicker side, which is cool.

I love the jet black, even if the leather is not ideal. And I really feel like I can throw it around. All pics are in sequential order. For those of you who are nervous to jump in, as I was, COME ON IN! The water's fine!

Thanks to bagalicious and eeboston as well as the other brave ladies who DIY'd their bags.

Enjoy!

Ladies, I was just wondering about the DIYs...

Some have painted their GGHs.. anyone plan on painting their GSH to make them stand out more?

Hi ladyluxe-:flower: I was at the shops last week and had my work GSH with me and I couldn't really see a big difference when I compared NBF's hardware to the authentic GSH one, maybe it's just me.

Oh, a colleague bought the auth GSH parttime and it is much shinier than mine! Mine looks pretty dull. It looks fine alone, but the difference is noticable with next to each other.. Funny she even asked me if my dullness was due to wear and tear :p

hi candy! :D

I went to the hardware shop and the boss recommended me coating the thimbles with silver flakes (silver paint won't acheive the very shiny effect). However, he says it's very difficult to paint it on and let it set. It'll also flake. I don't want my tops to look glittery! :p

baga, do you have a prob with the gold flaking off?

No Infact quite the contrary, it's on there!:D because the thimble is a textured surface and it was dotted on so it has become part of the HW at this point, Maybe if the surface was flat and shiny, then it might, but not with the shape of the GH.:flower:
I personally will not attempt to do my GS HW, I'm fine it with it looking "a little less shiny" it was the color that was so obvious with the gold, not the degree of lustre with the silver.
If the GSH bothers you , then yes go for it, There are threads on TPF with pics of GH that are big and you can use that for a comparisioan.

It was EASY gold leafing with a fine paint brush and using the dotting tecnique I mentioned, I would imagine the silver would be done in exactly the same way, if you found a shinier color match.
And just to add, I have seen MANY authentic Bals and the GH loses its even color and also flakes...so even if it did, it would be just like the authentics IMO.

Sorry my time ran out....just wanted to add ....if you are thinking of paining your GH...:

Try to go to an Art supply shop and not a hardware shop to buy the gold or silver leafing paint.
There less industrial, and the sales people in the art shop will be more sensitive and knowledgable to DIY projects other than home or house repair.
Hardware stores usually sell large products for houses and home fixes, not our kind of "DIY art fixes"
Art stores deal with intricate and detailed art mediums. (patching up gold leaf frames, working on metals...ect....different paints and brushes) Thats where I go.:flower:

Thanks baga! The hardware I went to is owned by an old man who loves diy paintings, antiques and furniture :D he had a lot of gold leafing paint in small bottles but nothing shiny in silver... I will check out the art shops! They are just kind of far from where I work :p

My Anthra GGH work in the daylight...again just to show how it looks with darker gold teeth..pic by me...And i think it looks gorgy:blush:
Ladyluxe- Oh that sounds fine then :flower: just didn't want members going to Home dept or Ace hardware and getting a guy who knows who only knows how to sell sell chain saws!
