Jean Paul Gaultier F/W 06.07 Paris

I LOVE this show with a passion, the more i look at it the better it gets, and good on you jadore dior for calling that look on milagros, yo know your stuff!!!but i love the idea of familiars, especially the owl!!

I actually like these clothes, but wtf with all the animals??? Paris is seriously irritating me, going so over the top with the gimmicks this year, that it distracts from the clothes. The point is supposed to be beautiful things to wear, and I like little touches of showmanship and presentation, but not when it becomes the main story of the show.

^I actually think there are correct ways of presenting a show with 'gimmicks' as it were. It's all part of creating the right mood, the right atmosphere and a Gaultier show is in one of those catwalk SHOW (as in 'showmanship') categories along with McQueen and Galliano.

I don't think the animals or the dolls distract too much from the clothes themselves especially since they didn't have them all marching out with dogs, just one or two. In some ways, it enhances the beauty. Like that dress that Mariacarla is wearing with the tassles - echoing the tassles on the dog is really quite cute. Lily Cole holding a matching doll reminds me of one of those Victorian paintings of little girls playing with dolls. It's all evocative imagery.
And for ppl watching the show live, probably a sight to see as well! Afterall, catwalk shows aren't called that for nothing.....

totally.. fur pieces and using live animals as 'catwalk accessories' was a bit untasteful for me too
but the collection is great, excellent colourcard, great fabrics..
should sell like hotcakes ;)

I hear Gaultier's doing HM Madonna's costumes for the summer tour. I'm looking forward to seeing if he'll incorporate some of this stuff into her wardrobe. It's definitely interesting stuff, even crazier than I expected.

Hm. I heard she let him go.

^nope, she didnt; they did collaborate on her costumes; the tour just started, so there are already pics to prove it... :flower:

This collection definitely stood the test of time, IMO. I love the his-and-hers trenchcoat dresses and the coats in the beginning. And the movement and flow of the fabrics are very beautiful...something that MGC doesn't quite seem to take into consideration. (Also random moment: when dear Stella & Maria Carla went blonde for a while.) Good work all around.
