Maybe he should have been more humble and showed somewhere else. I remember when Victoria Beckham showed in small presentations, personally narrating them at the NYFW, and after the good reception, the fashion folk asked; "Why aren't you showing in London, supporting British fashion?". And she said something like; "because i feel its out of my league at this point".
So if he was really serious, why not take few years (like Olens, Beckham.etc), and maybe first show in NY, then go for the big shows in Paris.
I think you nailed it. My main problem is that I think the whole thing is so pretentious and arrogant. Just like the man himself. If he was so "serious" about it, why not showing it in small presentations first? I'm somehow glad he's getting a slap in the face. Moreover, may I say that the result is really poor for something he said to have thought about for years. I am sorry but if after all those years of waiting you come up with that, then the job is definitely not be for you. Where's the vision? What's the message behind it?
Fashion needs fresh blood; but it needs real designers with a real vision. Not spoiled kids who think they can design because they attend shows and like to wear cute outfits.
