^ that's so silly though cowboy..it looks ravishing on you! it deserves better ;)

You know, there are groups that you can join to help you knit... I manage one, and there are many around the world. Just go to http://www.meetup.com and search for a Knitting group in your area. I just love meeting with others to work on projects! I am currently working on a poncho (ok, I know.. one of those..) but it's very easy, and I chose yarn that wasn't too trendy. I will post it when it is done. It's also more open weaved, so it doesn't look so frumpy as some of them out there.

I went to one of the Meetup.com meetings, and there are so many knitters of all abilities! One even showed me how to purl correctly! Another inspired me to make a felted bag for my next project, too! It's so much fun, especially considering that learning from a book is ok.. sometimes you just need another person to demonstrate what's in the book.

Anyhow, I hope this helps! I swear, I keep on checking out Cecilia DeBucourt's website for more ideas. I will post pics of my finished projects. Keep on knitting, I wish you all the best! :D

^^^ the poncho sounds great cant wait to see it when its done!:flower:

I'm done with my poncho!

Well, ladies, here's the picture of my poncho that I just finished knitting! I couldn't take a picture of myself wearing it, so I placed it on a hanger for all of you to see. I used Moda Dea yarn, which is a mixture of pink, green, and gold wool, acrylic, and polyester. Now, I'm currently working on a ballet wrap. I'll post that when I'm done too! By the way, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on knitting with acrylic yarn? Just wondering... Thanks!

its lovely!:flower: i prefer the feel of acrylic to wool as i find wool really itchy. but as for knitting with it i dont have any preferences.

Yes, wool does itch, doesn't it? Anyhow, I was just wondering if the quality of the acrylic yarns today are better than the ones like, ten years ago, because I remember that certain types of acrylics would pill when you wash them. I don't know about nowadays, since I haven't bought a 100% acrylic sweater in a long time. Anyone out there know about that, if the yarn still has a tendency to pill? Thanks!

i have an 100% acrylic jumper and its still in good condition and i love the fact that acrylic doesnt shrink while wool tends to. and its so much cheaper than wool aswell. really when i think about it i do prefer acrylic to wool.

i don't mind so much for me personally, i do like wool but it seems so impractical sometimes. but when i make things for other people i like that acrylic is more versatile...they can put it in the wash if they choose and not have to worry that it might shrink or stretch or whatever. most acrylic yarns can be machine washed, but i've found that most tend to handwash it. i would be most worried about a scarf or something stretching in the machine.

ps cowboy, you better post your new scarf! :)

i will i promise im still knitting it i hope to finish it by friday as i have a university interview and could be used in my portfolio!

i didn't mean that one silly! i just meant trade in general. you don't have to use that same yarn/button if you can't find it...but i'd love a brown one.

pm me if you really want to trade and we can discuss things!

:)
