Libertine for Target

i spotted the first libertine for target item in a magazine!

Page 81 of the June/July issue of Bust (with Chloe Sevigny on the cover) shows a model wearing the green and navy striped tunic dress for $17.99

^ There's no official press release yet, but Patrick Robinson's line will be available through July 15, 2007. So I think Libertine's line will be out either on the 15th or the 16th. :flower:

the green striped tunic is in the new issue of nylon with the white stripes on the cover. i think this will be the standout piece that will sell out early.

^ This is the Nylon feature that lucy92 was talking about

A horizontally striped tunic is the standout piece? Zzzzz...

Like you can't get something like that at Forever 21, Delia's, H&M...

^ Yeah, there are lots more interesting looking items in this collection that I don't know why they didn't feature them instead.

Eh. I really want to like this collection, but I feel like Libertine was just latching onto things that were trendy at the time that they were designing the collection.

That said, I'm probably going to get the coat, the bag and that silk top if I like the fit.

i wonder what the standout piece of this collection will be? it seems like the stripe tunic is what's being featured in the editorials so far.

i'm not really feeling this collection. i only really want that cute whale print bag, and maybe the ruffle-front jacket if the material isn't too bad.

there is a blue silk scarf in the libertine script print in the new issue of lucky magazine with vanessa minillo on the cover. considering how fast the proenza silk scarves were snapped up, i think these will be bought in the same amount of time.

there is a cute story on the line in the new issue of paper with rufus wainright on the cover. cindy greene says she bought $1,000 worth of the proenza schouler for target items. it says that the collection numbers 22 pieces, i think thats a misprint (they might mean looks).

info from target's press area on their website

Minneapolis (June 2007) — Target is partnering with bi-coastal fashion house Libertine to launch the next limited-edition collection for GO™, an innovative program designed to bring reasonably priced fashion created by world-renowned designers to women everywhere. The collection, created by Libertine designers Johnson Hartig and Cindy Greene, will be available at Target.com/go and at most Target stores nationwide July 15 through September 15, 2007.

The Libertine brand was born in 2001 after New York-based Greene (at the time a graphic designer at DKNY) sent her L.A.-based friend and aspiring actor, Hartig, a t-shirt with a gorilla silkscreened on it. He re-cut it and wore it to a party and shortly thereafter, their line was being sold at high-end boutiques. Mixing vintage with a twist of graphic prints and unexpected juxtapositions, their sophisticated, rough-edged collections are united through themes like Victoriana, goth and punk. With diverse influences ranging from romantic literary icons to skateboard culture, Hartig and Greene’s bi-coastal collaboration is one-of-a-kind in the fashion industry and has earned Libertine top honors such as the 2004 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award.

“Libertine brings a bold new aesthetic to the GO program making their one-of-a-kind design process accessible,” said Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target. “The collection is sure to appeal to guests with new takes on summer basics, providing on-trend affordable options for style-conscious women everywhere.”

The Libertine for Target collection is a mix of vintage inspiration and prepster chic, with bold colors, iconic graphics, rich fabrics and classic silhouettes. Ranging in price from $12.99 – $39.99, the line includes a variety of summer staples such as Bermuda shorts, pleated skirts, dresses and linen pants as well as polo shirts, silk tops, and button-downs. Stand-out pieces include shirtdresses, silk bow-front blouses, cropped jackets and silk scarves.

Libertine graphics, including birds, horses and bats, update classic summer silhouettes such as polo tees, Bermuda shorts and miniskirts, while an embroidered skull-and-whale print mixes punk and prep on short shorts, side-pocket skirts, bucket hats and a canvas duffel.

lots of libertine stuff in the new issue of teen vogue (with lauren conrad and whitney somebody on the cover)
there's a 4 page ad (they include the crepe dress, the pink/red puff sleeve tunic, the striped monstrosity outfit with the navy trench over it, the pirate shorts and the tree shirt). there is also a 3 page story
the story says that the tree shirt is an old motif and that the original design had a hanged man on the tree:shock:.
