just a heads up for new yorkers, in the bronx target off the 1 train (225th st. stop) there is a TON of libertine for target stuff out. no striped tunics, but the crepe dress, tons of pants, the striped jacket, a blue jacket with white piping, the black ruffled jacket, the tan military jacket, the cream bolero with black lace, lots of tees (including the cream one with the tree) and tanks, the whale print duffle bag, 3 types of scarves, the jeans, the blue silk slip dress, the cream whale skirt, some shorts and a lot of other things that i can't name off the top of my head. i tried a ton of things on, and my sense (albeit this is from a quick trying on of random things) is that the line is sized true to small.
just some quickie reviews:
+ the crepe dress: really well done, the material better than i thought, nice details. i loved it, but i have enough dresses....
i found this cut to be smaller, so i went a size up.
+ black ruffled jacket: a disappointment because there is a rhinestone-ish design on the back.
+ tan military jacket: same as above, there is a silkscreened bird character on the back, but i like the way this is cut
+ bolero: is adorable, and i ended up picking this up
+ scarves: there is the one we saw in luck (royal blue, colorful border, with "libertine" all over the print), but i picked up one in a smaller black and white print on cream silk that is more subtle. it has birds, skulls, etc. and a tinier libertine print. there is also a solid grey scarf with a pink border and a libertine logo in the corner.
+ the whale bag: is so cute and seems sturdy with a sturdy bottom.
+ the creme victorian blouse: is also really well done. nice silky material. beautiful pintucking and pleats, very lovely.
+ the slip dress: i thought it looked a little flimsy. however there is a sort of midnight blue silk camisole that is nice, as well as a blouson camisole in midnight blue with thick black lace straps. that's the one i picked up.
anyway, i'll have a fuller report later...i ended up buying the black and white scarf, the bolero, a t-shirt with the tree and a camisole...the more grownup stuff from the line, nothing with a whale or bright colors. but those items did look cute and most seemed decent. the fabric i found for the cotton pieces outside of the t-shirts and tanks to be a little flimsy, but felt the material was best with the silkier pieces (outside the silk dress). but i wanted to let any libertine hawks know that it's out now in new york, and as of today, the racks were relatively full...
