Luminous, Glowy and Healthy Skin

For the people who say their skin has started flaking, I would recommend Origin's Modern Friction once or twice a week. It takes off the dead/flaky skin and really brightens it. Followed by a moisturizer.

^ Thank you! I am really going to try that. I am totally desperate right now...and have a date tomorrow, so I need to look h-o-t.

Thanks again for the info, Ruthie.

As for Soy products, I find that when I eat any sort of soy based product (my favorite pasta happens to have soy in it) I break out really badly. I have heard the same thing from a couple of people, too.

that's me! not only does my skin act up but my entire body just goes wacky. growing up i always ate soy (i'm asian so my mom used a lot of soy sauce in her cooking) and never thought i had a problem. then when i lived on my own and stopped consuming soy regularly, i noticed the effect it would have on me even if i ate just a little. i get really bloated and swollen and my stomach has a hard time processing the food. now i avoid anything soy (beans, milk, sauce, etc) like the plague.

Soy has estrogen in it. Messes with your hormones, possibly effecting skin.

its been proven that water has no affect on the appearnce of ur skin. It will not make your skin glow, or make it look rosey. Thats a myth but that doesnt mean u should limit how much water you drink. But if you want your skin to look healthy and glow water isnt going to help. Eat lots of veggie and fish.

I have actually heard this about water too. There was one study done recently that I saw where they took twins and made one drink lots of water and the other drank very little. There ended up being no difference in the condition of their skin and it didn't affect aging which surprised me. I have dry skin though, and when I don't drink enough water, I can certainly feel it in my skin. So for me personally, water does make a difference.

As far as the fish...definitely. The omega-3 fatty acids are great for skin. The Perricone Skin Diet is very heavy in salmon. I have followed that plan, and I certainly saw the benefits in just a short amount of time. :D

drinking lots of water in addition to eating lots of fruit/vegetables and cutting out red meat, dairy and sugar does no end of good to my skin. after 3-4 days of sticking to that diet my blemishes clear up, my skin is smooth, radiant and so on... it's all to do with your digestive system apparently. clear the toxins out of your body and it's going to have an obvious effect on the outward appearance of your skin.

^ Good point. This might be too much information, but I used to suffer from constipation, and my skin would break out every time. Now that I am "regular" the issue is pretty much non-existent.

is this a type of face... gommage (cant think of any other word) that has little gritty things in it, it kind of has the consistency of tile caulk, and smells like cooking oranges? :smile:lol:smile:
if so, i have used it before and it is good! just dont use it a lot or else itll irritate the skin.

Thanks for the soy info link, ns424. I try to avoid soy but a lot of product contain it, many times I don't even know it's in there until I read the ingredient list.

That really motivated me to stay away from sugar especially and eat more vegetables and fruit! :woot:

I usually drink lots of jasmine green tea. The abundance of antioxidants helps keep my body healthy and free of any toxins. I also drink 100% pomegranate juice which also cleanses the body of any toxins. In terms of treating my skin, i just use Nivea for men. After a warm/hot shower, i pat my skin down with a soft towel then massage the cream into my skin. I exfoliate my face once a month in the winter( due to the weather conditions) and twice a month in the summer.

Not once have i encountered a pimple or acne so i guess im doing something right.

In terms of food, i try to balance everything out.. If i have meat, i need veggies to go along with it.

I know this is not food related to healthy skin, but I started using Beauty Elixir from Caudalie and my skin has never looked better.

Its given me a healthy glow, and helped minimize the appearance of my pores.

Yes, I guess you could say that.lol. And you're right, you can't use it a lot because it's like a microdermabrasion and it will irritate and break out the skin.

Please tell us more! :woot:

I think my best beauty investment has been to buy a water filter for my shower! It filters out the chlorine and such leaving my hair and skin so soft and nice looking. I got it at Home Depot for about $20, but there are many other options and places to buy them.
