Luminous, Glowy and Healthy Skin

I think if your juice is too concetrated it often needs something like watermelon or apple to add more liquid to it.

This thread is a dream. Skincare to me is utter importance because when I let it fall by the wayside, I turn to crap. I've a very specific and wonderful regime and it's made all the difference.

I never expose my skin to anything harsh and that begins in the morning with my shower. I'll turn my shower on before I use to a huge heat so it steams my room up and I'll lay a hand towel in the path. I turn it down to lukewarm when I get in and roll up my steamed towel. When I'm waiting for my conditioner (three minutes) I lay the steamed towel over my face to open my pores so they respond better to my treatment! Next, I exfoliate with this wonderful peppermint scrub from bath and body works (the mint in it always wakes me up and makes me feel wonderful). If I have particularly dry skin, during winter, I follow with St. Ives Apricot scrub. I end with Clarins Never a Dull Moment - that stuff is AMAZING. When I get out, I immediately moisturize my face and then use my favorite budy butter (mor emporium in lychee flower: so feminine and sweet, it blends perfectly with my signature perfume) and then before I put my makeup on, I use screenscreen at SPF 15 if its cloudy and gray, but 30 if it is sunny. It takes about ten extra minutes.

At night, I use a thick lotion and then apply eye cream. After that I use Clarins One Step Gentle Cleanser to remove my makeup and if I need to I use diluted apple cider vinegar to tone (which I leave on and let dry). I sloth on the moisturizer and if I've broken out, I use a very mild blemish cream on just the spot itself.

Besides that, I keep hydrated and eat well (no sugars after 5pm for example - and snack on vegetables and fruit)! It sounds time consuming, but honestly, it's ten minutes in the morning and ten minutes at night and I have the softest, smoothest, and healthiest skin I have ever had. I glow like a little firefly! Another really smart thing to do is in the skin around your lips + your lips, I put chapstick on and then use my finger to dab on a bunch of sugar. I rub it in and then use my toothbrush to remove it and then leave vaseline on. It brightens my lips and then the chapped look so popular in winter doesn't effect how great my skin looks!

Hope that helps!

Bumping this lovely topic!

I just have to rave about Benefit's Highbeam :heart:

This is a satin pink highlighter which you can mix with your foundation
or wear it alone. It gives me that perfect 'glow'.

I am extremely picky about my makeup. I don't want my face to look like
a disco ball when the sun hits my face and this is the perfect highlighter
for that.
And it's not expensive! :D

I'm just afraid I'm going to order the wrong color/shade :ninja:

there's only one shade for the High Beam. if your skin color is more on the warm/darker side, i think BeneFit recommend Moon Beam. which is darker.

^ Ah, yes, I discovered that at Sephora.com last night... I do have light skin, so I think I will go with the High Beam.

But - Is it as effective when worn alone? I do not wear tinted moisturizer or foundation or anything like that (I'm entirely too fussy).

^Yes, you can wear it alone. Either mix some with your moisturiser or dab it along cheekbones, brow bone, anywhere you want highlighted ^_^

^ It's cleared! After many months of seeing that it was full... finally..

See my secrets to great skin:

Drink a ton of water, or Crystal Light.

Patricia Wexler skincare. I started using this stuff as a result of my job, but the cleanser is a cream that is gentle enough to remove makeup, the glyco peel helps to get rid of any breakouts I might be having and in some ways, to help get rid of acne scars, the serum makes my skin feel soft, and then my daytime moisturizer seriously makes my skin glow. It's not oil either-I may have problems with acne and so forth, but I use the oil free moisturizer. Seriously, ever since I started using it my face has the oddest sheen...and I quite like it.

I cut down my dairy intake-I eat no meat, poultry, or seafood anyways-to the occasional ice cream or milkshake, and then stuff with cheese.

One of the best things you can do for your skin is adopt a carefree attitude. No, not when it comes to your skincare, although I admit that if I am not going outdoors during a day for any reason, I'll skip the washing. But it's to generally have a sort of laissez-faire attitude, to always be up for some fun...it really shows on my skin.

Kinda hard to describe so excuse my incoherenceB)

^ It's funny - some of those are great suggestions, and are often said to clear up skin. I have never had bad skin - never had acne or any of that (it hit my mother at the age of 30, so I am waiting for the same) - but I can say that drinking a lot of water and staying hydrated has never made me see a difference in my skin. Sometimes I like that - but sometimes not. Dairy or no dairy, my skin stays the same. That's why I feel I have nowhere to to turn to but makeup.

Thanks for your list Trista - fun to read. :flower:

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but using a paper towel or even a Kleenex to wipe water off your face after cleansing is really beneficial as to not transfer any bacteria, dust or particles in the air on to your face. I had a lot of facial piercings before and this is what everyone recommended to do so as to keep your face as clean as possible - I've found that my skin has really cleared significantly after not using a face towel anymore.

hmmmmm

a couple things ive learned

drinking at least 2 litres of water and a cup of green tea a day
eating raw vegetables and no dairy whatsoever

steaming my face for a long period of time and using lots lemon juice on my face, these have reaaaaly helped me

Things that help my skin:

Lots and lots of water. It may not work for others, but there's definitely a difference in my skin when I drink less/more water.

Cutting out sugar. Amazing what a different this makes!

Getting lots of sleep, and being more relaxed. I've found that lack of sleep + stress = breakout.

Highlighters help so much for making you look glowy. Dab a little on your cheekbones, brow bones, the area between your cheeks and nose (like not the side of your nose, but the area right next to it. the part where you don't put blush). I use NARS' Albatross (they have a more intense sparkly highlighters in the 'sparkling pressed powder' line), but MAC's Vanilla pigment is also very, very good!

I received my High Beam a couple of days ago. :woot:

However...

At this point I am not impressed. Perhaps I am not applying enough? I go with my normal dab of bronzer here and there and then blended. No effect.

Agree!! After a week of eating no refined sugar, your skin glows like a model's!! ^_^

It's hard to motivate yourself for the first week, but once you see the results, you'll cut out sugar more often in the future! :flower:
