Madonna designs heading for the high street

Madonna — the world's highest earning female performer, worth an estimated £165 million — still has time for a few little jobs on the side.Working closely with the Swedish fashion chain H&M, she has helped to create a high street collection closely based on her own glamorous wardrobe staples.
The range, M by Madonna, goes on sale next month and includes chic belted trench coats, an elegant black jersey maxi dress, a fitted, 1970s-inspired bomber jacket — one of Madonna's signature looks in recent years — and skinny black trousers.
This is Madonna's second collaboration with H&M. Her first, a track-suit that went on sale last summer amid much publicity, was regarded by many as a flop.
The 48-year-old singer has worked with fashion designers from Jean Paul Gaultier to Stella McCartney during her career and ignited more style trends than any other performer.

Madonna's my favorite artist of all time, but i've never been keen on her personal style - she's worn quite a bit of ugly in the past few years. But i actually like this!

I love the ad..

This ad blows me away. I love the 'fierceness' of it all. Love the Kimono like dress and the blouse with the suspenders.

2 bad there won't be a men's line:(

the trench and the kimono-style dress are my favorites so far, i might actually buy those two...

when exactly will the collection be available? hm.com doesn't show anything yet....

how incredible her stage costumes
True, but did she actually create those? I'll give her credit for something good that she personally designs, but the credit for the Gaultier bustier goes to him. Many stars wear a lot of incredible pieces, but 95% of the time, those stunning ensembles are created by stylists, not the stars themselves.

I jumped on the anti-Madge bandwagon because I find her to be rather stupid, and not nearly talented enough to make it up.

Oh, and after seeing those sketches....ugh. All three designs have been done to death.

a tracksuit with conebra!!!
You're amazing. :P

Right, but she ordered him to do this exactly - it was a mutual collaboration, let's just say without Madonna there wouldn't be any cone-bra bustier. Nobody BUT Madonna would wear it (back then). So it's both's merit!

I don't really understand the essence of this sentence. You're calling her "rather stupid".... why exactly? I mean the woman's built practically a multimillion $$$ empire that will keep her great-great-great-grandchildren rich for their lifetimes... wait i get it... how "rather stupid" is that? :D :D :D

If there is ANYTHING Madonna is not, it is stupid. Madonna is a VERY intelligent and clever woman, and on top of that she has ALWAYS given HUGE credit to the people she collaborates with. She even insisted Testino's name to be added on the Versace ads in 1994, which made Testino a household name. Always dragged around Gaultier and namedropped him everywhere she could. The same can be said about Herb Ritts, Mondino, Steven Klein, Jonas Akerlund, Arianne Phillips and her musical partners Mirwais, Stuart Price, etc, etc.

She is always the first person to give credit where credit is due, but the collaborators she works with ALWAYS mention that she has a VERY strict grip on the things she does and her work is always a very tight collaborative effort! They always praise her for her input and dedication to the projects she works on. She knows exactly what she wants and gets the right people to help her get to that point. Which makes her VERY clever and intelligent as an artist as well as a business woman...

New press release:
MADONNA JOINS WITH H&M TO CREATE FASHION LINE
A modern twist on feminine classics

The creative collaboration between Madonna and H&M continues with the arrival of the ”M by Madonna” collection, which will be available worldwide on March 22, 2006 in all H&M stores having women’s departments. Margareta van den Bosch, H&M’s head of design, and Madonna have come together to create a line of clothing that reflects Madonna’s fashion sensibilities, modern elegance and femininity.

"Madonna has a remarkable feel for fashion and trends. She is a total professional, inspiring and enthusiastic. She was involved in even the smallest details of every design. The result, ‘M by Madonna,’ is all about fashion that people can really love and wear season after season," states van den Bosch.

The unique yet classic “M by Madonna” line includes glamorous tops, trendy lumber jackets, tailored blazers and other apparel, such as shirt dresses and kimono dresses. A Madonna favorite is a stylish trench coat in cotton poplin or leather. The palette is primarily a neutral one – white, black, khaki and grey. Fabrics range from silk, wool and viscose jersey to body-sculpting lycra. The entire line is embellished with a small “M” logo on linings, zippers and buttons. In addition, the “M by Madonna” look includes a wide assortment of accessoriessunglasses, party bags, clutches and narrow leather belts.

This dream music and fashion collaboration between Madonna and H&M began last spring when H&M supplied a complete line of casual clothing for Madonna’s touring troupe – the band, dancers, crew members and the Material Girl herself. On that occasion, Madonna and H&M worked together on a specially designed Madonna track suit, which was sold at H&M stores worldwide.

Founded in Sweden in 1947, H&M, with over 1,300 stores in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and soon in Eastern Asia, is synonymous with fashion and quality at the best price. The company’s fashions are created by in-house designers. The ‘M by Madonna’ collection will be sold in 28 countries around the world.

Madonna, a seven-time Grammy winner, children’s book author, fashion icon and visionary, is a cultural innovator of astonishing diversity and enduring appeal. Her most recent CD, “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” immediately shot to the top of the charts in 29 countries. Her Confessions Tour was the most successful tour ever by a female artist. The DVD/CD, "The Confessions Tour - Live From London," has just been released
