Marc Jacobs F/W 10.11 New York

It was a very melancholic collection for me and I loved that feeling about it. The accessories are to die for!

im loving the HQ details....the models look striking in every one
the handbags are MUST haves, especially the fur one

The restraint he's shown with this collection has renewed my faith in him after whatever happened during spring. I think the yellow floral print dress that looks like the model ran through a puddle of glitter is my favorite look. My only wish is that he would have explored that look just an eeensy bit more. The fact that he decided to retreat back from being so cutting edge and in your face definitely paid off, as this collection looks like it could stand the test of time.

Oh I loved, loved, loved this show so much! Everything about it!

And although many have characterised it as non fashion forward, I feel it really is: not in the sense that it's presented a groundbreaking novelty, but rather in the direction of presenting a definition of the new look that so many have sensed is in the air. MJ's interpretation consists of moving away from black (let alone total black) to softer basic colours, like gray and beige for winter. The hemline becoming longer. Skirts getting wider. The return of flared trousers. The (slow) demise of impossible shoes (although he never really succumbed to this). The disappearance of "80's/urban worrior/rock/whatever other similar trend with studs, chains and leather" agressivity. The understated chic.
Let's see where we are after Paris...

This collection has to be one of my favorites at NYFW. Liked it alot better than last seasonB)

poodle skirts are back.. i remember them from '07-08..
interesting they thought to add in culottes

when I saw this my first thought was...wow Phoebe really setted a trend with her first collection at Celine...does anyone else sees the resemblance?

not my favourite, the bags are great...
but the length and the proportions are so boring...
nothing exciting...

For such a strong collection, the casting was weak. I think that grey and brown tones are perfect for F/W. I'm not big on fur but the jackets with the fur trim and the embellishment are amazing. The finale dresses (apart from the one on Jamie) are really beautiful in a borderline garish way, but they work as being some of the more glamorous pieces from the collection. Best so far in a weak week so far IMO...

I am just shocked - Marc Jacobs has created just the most beautiful collection. Its quirkiness but easy wearability reminded me a lot of the appeal that Dries van Noten has.
I adored the cut of the coats and jackets, he kept some silhouettes from last season but these were done in a much more sensible way.
Wonderful and I'm totally impressed.
