Model Behavior (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Yes, most people never share their darkest moments on social media, but if someone does, there's no justification for shaming that decision... it's her personal pain, her personal choice to unburden, and comparing her reality to someone else's is pointless since we can all feel the same emotions very differently.

Calling her ig story: unnecessary and dramatic is not only mean but also disrespectful. We all feel and deal with those dark moments differently and every single way of doing so ideally deserves empathy and always deserves respect.

Cele|bitchy | Erin Heatherton filed for bankruptcy, has $560K in credit card debt

That isnt surprising at all. So many of these girls start making a lot of money and start spending it on expensive clothes and restaurants and think the money will be coming in forever. Look at someone like Hanne Gaby who has bought 2 apartments in NYC and fully supports herself even when barely working - I would doubt at any point in her career she was pulling a quarter of what Erin was, but many of the HF girls seem to realise more how short-lived it all is.

This was completely unnecessary and dramatic, I know many models have been though a lot of bad things, but this was very immature of her. Hopefully she's okey tho.
She has been pulling this for years. At this point it is unnecessary on social media because she needs to get help instead of constantly seeking it on Instagram.

I think she posted this because maybe most of her issues comes from her job... She is a « public person » and maybe she needs the support of the industry more than her family... Only models like her can get her struggle...

But maybe she needs to quit the industry but it’s easier to say than to do.
People can only send her support messages as we cannot really tell what’s going on.

I just hope that one day, she’ll get through her issues. It’s been going on for a while now..

I always got the vibe from Erin that she was just looking for a rich husband and a lifestyle. It is funny to see how fast she got dropped by her modelfriends. These girls all pretend to be each others besties or try to cling on the new hottest model in town. I always thought Erin was born well off. How does a girl like Hanne support herself?

True. I imagine at the beginning of their career when they were booking tons they just saved their money instead of getting sucked in to overspending on a luxury lifestyle. If you're investing that properly it can last you a long time. On that note, poor Nobis bought a lovely Bondi apartment last year near where I live.....right before the Sydney property market dropped 15% in value.

I imagine the plan for a lot of these VS girls is to find a rich husband. Sad but true.

The best investment they can make is in themselves and to think of life beyond modelling. Because unless you're Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell (and even they've dealt with rich men), there's just no way modelling will carry you until you're 60 uninterrupted. Hate to admit this because I'm not a fan of her at all, but Julia Nobis is on the right track with her priorities. Get the money, and get out. And also, her plan is entirely self-reliant (not sure if her parents pay for her studies, but she can afford it on her own if push comes to shove.) There's no tech exec or Malaysian blood money funding her lifestyle or ventures. So for a model like Erin to go bankrupt, and commercial models earn more than HF, there must've been some gross mismanagement of money.

Exactly. I have to wonder what she was spending that VS money on!

FYI in Australia we don't start paying for our studies until we earn 55k and above. UK and Aus have the best systems in the world.

I feel like Erin is an exception more than the rule. I'm sure a lot of these models know that the career they've chosen is very short and temperamental so they save and invest whatever money they can while they still have a career. Most people aren't that naive to think the money and jobs will last forever in an industry where youth and beauty are top priorities.

Sad for Erin, falling into so much debt when your industry is so fickle and ageist must be terrifying. Agree with everyone above re: models that are careful with money. I do think VS girls are in the best position to parlay themselves into a post-modelling career because they often get a big media profile while the HF girls are mostly anonymous.

I heard that even if a model gets a campaign worth $20,000, by the time agency collects their fees and manager gets their share, the model could end up with only $4,000. The rest is for agency - costs of living, transportation and whatever else agency could think of.
So a model would end up with a fifth of the entire pay of their job (which I think is horrible). That's why I would think saving is important.
I saw on Erin's instagram a long time ago, that she had a sauna room in her apartment so I thought ''well she is a big name, I suppose she could afford it''. Maybe not so much.
Anyway she is still famous and I am sure people will help her and she'll be back on her feet in no time. It is a shame though.

Do we think in this twisted world of brands and their public image, that it being publicly revealed that she’s bankrupt will help or hurt her? As in, is a brand less likely to take a chance on her now or more likely to? What’s the PR spin?

I think people will line up to help because - wether they truly want to help or only do it for publicity - they will come across as the good guys doing good deeds.

I doubt the fashion industry is looking for that kind of publicity. They'll do good deeds for humanitarian efforts, not to help a broke model.

Some did help that 80s model who was discovered sleeping rough in the streets of Spain. Her peers, I think, clubbed together and vowed to help her, although I doubt it was for publicity. There's a thread about the entire story somewhere on TFS.

Um. What?

I don't understand.. is she saying Dilone is the stalker? At the same time Dilone has a story with that girl @amenn tagged and a picture captioned 'when you remember why you're no longer friends with them.'

I don't get what she meant either. Yet, are Achok and Dilone in somekind of a bad blood?
