Model Casting F/W 06.07

One needs to bear in mind that Brazillian models are usually European themselves, with most of their parents and grandparents natives of Europe. Caroline Trentini and Raquel Zimmerman are prime examples of this!
same for Solange and Jeisa i think

I think model casting has become much more interesting in Paris. A different girl seems to be opening every show. Tanya Dziahileva opened and closed Jean Paul Gaultier, so I'd bet anything she gets the campaign. Mariya Markina, the same girl who opened and closed Jil Sander, opened and closed Paco Rabanne this morning. Angela Lindvall opened Dior, so she'll probably get that campaign; makes sense after Stella Tennant, going with the whole used-to-be-big-model-slightly-forgotten theme, I guess.

"Faders":

Bianca
Kim (Noorda)
Doutzen
Solange
Marija
Polina

^ well, Kim is not doing anything this FW0607 season, I don't know if you can call her a fader. She just has a break, I guess.

^Is Kim coming back, or has she quit for good?

Heather Marks could probaly qualify as a "fader"; ditto for Jessica Stam, Lily Cole and Lisa Cant. Yes, all the alien-dolls (except for Gemma) are on their way out!!!

^ Let's hope she'll come back. I think her absence has to do with her study. I hope to see her back at the SS07 shows. I'm really missing her.

Other subject: Daria has only opened Pierre Balmain in Paris yet (if I'm not wrong). She's not really dominating in Paris. But I think she'll open Chanel tomorrow. Freja is doing better in Paris!

I do agree that Daria has faded so far in Paris, but that's what I thought at the beginning of Milan, too, so maybe things will turn around still. Freja hasn't done so well until today, when she opened Stella McCartney, which totally shocked me. (I'm still convinced that her booker must physically threaten the designers...I just dont get it) The one who has really taken a turn and dominated Paris so far is Hilary Rhoda, imo.

that highlighted comment totaly just made my day.....i would karma you, but it won't let me at the moment, i definetly will though  i like freja, but i'm sure that i would also like alot of the 40,000 girls i see walking down the street that look EXACTLY like her...i have a feeling she either has a WONDERFUL personality or..she has superpowers

 .. thats funny!..Freja.. i don't get it either seriously the girl is everywhere!! :ninja:

And yeah Hilary has bounced back well, opening Sophia Kokosalaki and Balenciaga and doing a bunch of other high profile shows

I agree with most of this thread. Some models I've been missing are Tiiu, Elise, Heather M. (even though she did do a reasonable number), Diana Dondoe, Cintia, Eugenia, and Stam. There are some others I can't remember but all my favourite models were big from Spring 04 (when I started my interest in fashion and models:lol: ) so it's understandable that they aren't doing as much now.

As for the new models... I really love Du Juan and I like Behati and Drielle too, and Bette is alright, but some of the other new ones... :ninja: That Tanya girl:unsure: And I just do NOT get Freja at all! She is not attractive to me in the least yet she's in every show it seems! I've been seeing a lot of Romina and Maria Carla too and I was never a fan of either... Same with Iselin Steiro:huh: Good to see a lot of Emina though, and I thought Julia S. was around, just not that much. Too much Snejana for me as well but at least I think she's beautiful, just overexposed. Oh, and I really love Julia Dunstall:blush:

For Prada, I thought Anna Mariya (opener) is actually quite nice looking. But Daiane (reminds me of Anne Frank!!!), Heather Bratton (defined cheekbones don't mean you're good looking:innocent: ), Coco Rocha (argh just don't get her. Usually I like Canadian girls a bit more, but I just... can't...), and Irina Lazareanu (interesting but maybe too quirky for my liking for the amount of shows she's doing). But, in fairness to the new models that weren't so attractive in Prada, that make up was just not flattering at all:yuk:

Oh and Christina Kruse, not working at all for me! And I'm not too sad about the lack of Dovile.

That's crazy; I totally agree with everything you said. And you said a lot!!:D

Yah, where has Solange been these past few days (Other than Dior)??

Cintia is on vacation in Brazil, Kim's on an obvious hiatus... blah :(

Callidora, I agree with many of things you've said in this thread :) I'll give you karma when that system's back up! :flower:

OK, so I've been debating whether to publicly reveal the extent of my obsessive compulsive list making when it comes to things that interest me, but I'm bored so what the hell. Since the very first show of NY fashion week, I've been keeping a running tab of which models are doing the best. I use a scoring system as follows:

I rate shows on a scale of 1-5.
5 pts. (e.g. Marc Jacobs, Prada, Dior)
4 pts. (e.g. Strenesse, DSquared, Dries Van Noten)
3 pts. (e.g. Behnaz Sarafpour, Salvatore Ferragamo, Rick Owens)
2 pts. (e.g. Lacoste, Philosophy, AF Vandevorst)
1 pt. (e.g. Temperley, Emporio Armani, Veronique Branquinho)

These are the points a model earns for walking in each show.

Now if a model opens a show, she gets 4x the points so 20pts for opening Marc Jacobs, 16 pts. for opening Dries, 12 pts. for opening Ferragamo, etc.

If she closes a show, she gets double the points, e.g. 10 pts. for closing Dior, 8 pts. for closing DSquared, 6 pts. for closing Rick Owens, etc.

I make a list at the beginning of each fashion week of the shows I will score and the number of points each show will earn. I don't score every single show, only the designers that have wider recognition. I add a show if I know all the models in the show, because hot models add credibility to a smaller name show.

I score each fashion week individually, and add them together afterward to get the overall standings.

These are the top 10 NY fashion week faces:
1. Freja Beha Erichsen 148 pts
2. Sasha Pivovarova 142 pts
3. Daria Werbowy 140 pts
4. Lily Donaldson 105 pts
5. Vlada Roslyakova 105 pts
6. Caroline Trentini 104 pts
7. Behati Prinsloo 96 pts
8. Iselin Steiro 95 pts
9. Solange Wilvert 94 pts.
10. Hilary Rhoda 83 pts.

These are the top 10 Milan faces:
1. Daria Werbowy 155 pts
2. Freja Beha Erichsen 127 pts
3. Gemma Ward 102 pts
4. Natasha Poly 93 pts
5. Snejana Onopka 91 pts
6. Raquel Zimmermann 85 pts
7. Mariacarla Boscono 72 pts
8. Vlada Roslyakova 72 pts
9. Caroline Trentini 64 pts
10. Lily Donaldson 57 pts

Overall NY/Milan top 20:
1. Daria Werbowy 295 pts
2. Freja Beha Erichsen 275 pts
3. Sasha Pivovarova 195 pts
4. Vlada Roslyakova 177 pts
5. Snejana Onopka 174 pts
6. Caroline Trentini 168 pts
7. Lily Donaldson 162 pts
8. Natasha Poly 160 pts
9. Raquel Zimmermann 152 pts
10. Behati Prinsloo 149 pts
11. Iselin Steiro 146 pts
12. Solange Wilvert 139 pts
13. Gemma Ward 135 pts
14. Irina Lazareanu 130 pts
15. Julia Dunstall 124 pts
16. Romina Lanaro 113 pts
17. Eugenia Volodina 109 pts
18. Hilary Rhoda 107 pts
19. Jessica Stam 107 pts
20. Anja Rubik 100 pts

If you're wondering, a tie-breaker goes to the girl with less shows, since that means the quality of the shows she has done is better.

So, if anyone is wondering what your personal favorite ranked on my system here (which I'm not going to revise by the way, it would be way too complicated!!!) ask away!

Wow, great work.

Where did Doutzen, Caroline W and Hye fall in the list?
