I'm happy Mirte wasn't there, the casting all in all was very great, nice opener, cool supermodels, some girls being in their second season, and super cool newfaces of course.

Yes Ylonka was great. Also that Rasa and Lindsay were there, although I'm not a fan, nice that Prada sticks for a runwayseason with their campaigngirls (like goodbye Katlin, Julia)

Call me a stubborn Frenchie who loves to complain (an ugly frog eater as Cassi would say ) but I'm not really thrilled at all by Prada's casting. I always feel a bit sorry when this happens to me and when I take time to write it but it's a place to discuss this kind of topics after all.

Of course there were some very nice surprise. Samantha might not be my favorite model ever nor really my favorite type of model, seeing her opening and closing made me happy. Good point. Then Barbara Pavlin of course. Couldn't be happier about anyone there than I was for her. Was happy for Jacquelyn and Valerija too, and a couple more (Kirsi, Ginta, McNeil...)

Then maybe I was expecting too much. All the buzz, the supermodels thing, all the rumors etc. I was expecting it to shock and in the end it's a regular Prada casting. No more, no less and not bad at all. But not thrilling, not shocking, not rocking, not moving, not impressive, not surprising, not amazing, etc.

Russell's picks and Miuccia's tricks packed together and that's it. It works and that's great. But maybe, and that's purely personal, I'm not that fond of his casting and I might have seen some more surprising things from Prada too.

It's not regular at all, some girls walked Prada for the first time in over 7-8 seasons or for the first time in their career. It was seriously stellar, IMO anyway. Each girl was a surprise to me and it really goes to show that commercial girls, VS models and other can be demure and elegant enough to walk high fashion shows. I didn't even notice Allesandra, Vanessa Hessler or Rosie coming out which is a good thing because Prada loves the attention to be on the clothes and not the Model. Compare this casting to the SS09 casting (which was all blonde) and the F/W09 casting (which was freaky). Milan shows don't need to be full of bland 15 year old girls who we'll never see again next season. Presitge wise Prada is up there with Versace and Gucci so there's no reason why glamourous looking girls shouldn't be walking for it. I was so bored of Russel casting every possible girl with the most impossible surname just because she is 15.

How long Miuccia and co. have been cooking this in their heads, you mean? All I am somewhat sure of is that requests for the VS/commercial girls were sent out sometime during the past two weeks to their respective agencies. The idea might have been there since last season or even right before the requests were made - who knows?
