Model Casting F/W 10.11

As much as I loved seeing Doutzen, Alessandra and Miranda I've gotta say that I was much more pleasantly surprised to see Maryna, MCB, Bianca, and McNeil.
I guess I appreciate knowing that such girls haven't been discarded by the industry, plus I'd much rather see awesome established girls have a chance at Prada than a bunch of random teenagers.

I don't know, but 3 current VS Angels and a Guess girl (all we needed was one extra SI girl to complete the list) in a Prada show is pretty new and shifting to me  I know we've seen Adriana Lima at Givenchy and Miranda at Balenciaga...but this being Prada, the bringer of Sasha, Lindsey, all the weirdness and unconventionality (is that a word?) ever to appear in modeling makes it a lot more different somehow. Maybe I think too greatly of a Prada casting and maybe we all do, but the impact is just lightyears bigger than when Tisci does it.

I just wrote to Miranda´s thread that this may not be the first time, but definitely get the most attention.

And for those who say Prada didn`t go far enough with the casting,: I enjoy the diversity there. There will always be newbies, established models and top models, and in my opinion this casting was well combined.

I agree with you, Miuccia doesn't need to overplay, next step would have been a cast full of supermodels like Linda E or Claudia S, which is both most likely not affordable and not possible anyway.

I saw too many New faces at Versace...
Lisanne,Lindsey W, Rasa, Antonella....
That's not Versace. Even the last cast was surprising and Versace always had the more mature, estbalished models... meh..

yeah Versace cast sucked. it's like they've switched memos with Prada.

who casts Versace?
its horrible and they need to stop
casting tons of new girls...Lais is the only one that
fits the look...Versace is for women not little girls

while there are few of my favorites at Versace, there are just too many girls that dont fit in
what is Lisanne doing there? Lindsey? Rasa? Hell, even Frida.
Karmen & Natasha looked hella good though.

extremely^ the only girls i really liked were Tati and Lindsay, they are anything but Versace girls, though. Kelli Lumi and Melissa were nice suprises. Julija Steponaviciute would be perfect for this collection.

I want Donatella got "back to her roots" and cast girls like Raquel,Coco and Maryna. :(
But I liked some of my faves there, Jac,Frida and Jacquelyn.
But what the hell was Lisanne doing there??? She soooo not fits Versace!

Yeah, Versace casting was a major fail. I don't even know what they're thinking. Compare this cast with that of say FW09, not even close.

What is it with all these big houses casting 80% of 'little' names? Can they not afford the big names or what?

i think there is a transition going on.the girls of 2005-7 days on the runway are numbered.unfortunately for us their replacements are less than impressive. i'm all for new girls getting their shine but seriously throw in some vets that know how to work a show.

It's now fun trying to guess at which shows only one out of the Melissa T/Julia Nobis duo will appear (Versace being the most recent)...they're almost being featured as a package deal at most of the London/Milan shows thus far

With that said the exclusion of Georgina at Versace is one of the most disappointing news for me this season...

I hope the Prada trend catches on.
commercial VS = better than most girls that walked Versace.

and I don't hate them cause they are new but most of them are blank faces with no personality and 0 sex appeal. How can someone so young model for such a mature brand? it doesn't work. at all.

The real question is - is Versace truly a mature brand any more? Or is it doing a film-trend and going for a "reboot" type sequence? If casting young models is unbecoming of a brand I would think that Prada, especially with its recent "mature"-type collections (Sans S/S 10), is a far worse culprit in creating the ironic dichotomy. But all in all youth is the bigger ambition for an aging consumer than sex appeal (With one comes the other), so as Donatella herself ages I can understand why she is perfectly happy with who she has to work with then and there.

Jac opened - ok I'm really fine with this, but Bregje closing?
It's not that I dislike her,but she's just so random and bland and just not the right choice for closing such a show like Versace
