anna J missed just one season(SS10) and has done a show i guess. how is that noteworthy.

Also she hasn't shown up this season at all - that's inclusive in the "two."

About the cast. Well. Glad Lara and MariaCarla were there, also quite some good names.

I wasn't excited for Givenchy and therefor cannot be disappointed in the end. Some nice surprises like Ai (hate the hair though), Anna J & Lyndsey Scott. But then then the randoms like Isabella Lindbloom and a few others ruined it. Whatever. Lovely to see the diversity and Liu Wen closing though

Givenchy has a lot of random girls show up in the show it sort of throws you off.. remember Rebecca Chandler or Thea Stratton in the F/W 09.10 show? Random.

ugh. a big reason why I was looking forward to Givenchy is because I had a small hope that Tety Melnychuk might have been an exclusive
bummer.

Everyone is mentioning Freja, Daria, & Natasha but what is their record?

Trentini opened 14 shows in S/S 07.

I don't mind her, I mind the randomness of it all. Like you mentioned, I was shaking my head at Thea and Rebecca too . If you're going for "directional" with your casting, please go all the way or don't try to sell that you're directional and ~special at all. K, my standards might be too high but whatever.

Yes I still can't get over some of the random choices from prior Givenchy castings.. and maybe also this one.

I guess I'm just super bias with Isabella since I've been following her career from the get-go

I really couldn't believe how bad the givenchy cast was. I liked the Asian girls, Malgosia and the Givenchy regulars, Lara, Kamila, Magda etc, but the rest were terrible. It's like half of the girls were pulled in from the street. Then Joan Small, AMJ, Chanel, patricia, what the hell is going on!

Seldom will there be a cast that pleases anyone 100% (Particular a brand like Givenchy, where Riccardo's own preferences come heavily into play - remember Donatella?). It's merely the designer's prerogative in making his/her own statement beyond the clothing.

^I think I only speak of when someone here says, "But _____ is so ugly!" or seems completely confounded that those actually in charge of making decisions like certain girls better than others. It's not really that shocking?

I do agree that there is a mish-mash in terms of actual direction when it comes to Givenchy (Something even more evident in their menswear casting every season), but you know what - I'm not going to tell Riccardo who he should like

Not too sure about this specific Givenchy casting...it's very diverse but somehow it doesn't really impress me personally.

BTW I really doubt whether AMJ was a 'real' exclusive, I don't think she was planning to do any shows either way...

I'm not. I actually quite like Patricia, but casting is a big thing in Givenchy shows and I always thought Riccardo wasn't that into the kind of plain looking girls who you'd expect to see at Prada. In fact I think I read or heard him say something about how he likes strong women in his shows and not zombies. Half the girls there were the kind of girls I'd expect to see at Prada, including AMJ, Patricia and Joan who just because she is black doesn't mean she can't fall into that category imo. Chanel.... well..... she's just not very Givenchy to me either.

Agreed....many of the names in that cast which I had never heard of in my life (and I can't recall them right now) did not impress me at all after looking them up. Ling Tan, Ai (even though she looked totally unlike the Ai I remember on the runway) and Anna J are major thumbs-up for me....the rest was ok.

Thanatos, I still think it's personal definitions of "plain" coming into play, though. I myself find the opener, Yuliana, to be far plainer than AMJ & Patricia...and anything but Givenchy-esque. But was the collection itself even very predictable Givenchy? I think that factors in as well.

As for Joan, I think you perhaps missed the fact that she was 2nd look at his previous couture show and has been a runway dominant since - so Givenchy is, in a way, trying to reclaim her with the Paris exclusive because that HC show was when Joan first returned to the spotlight. So yah, you're right in saying that it has nothing to do with the fact that she's black - and it shouldn't have anything to do with that.

I love it how Liya just pops up in Paris usually at Balenciaga . It's like she either skips the season or shows up in Paris .
