Prada F/W 06.07 Milan

I find this horrible to be honest. The leopard prints, fur and those awful bags:sick:

Too much fur. Otherwise, I still like it pretty much.
I was thinking the same, I like the collection but not all that fur... :(

The fur is mingin. So is a lot of the rest of it. Seems a bit too ugly, even for Prada.

wow, there is some stellar stuff and ideas in this collection. really like the sweetheart bustiers with the cropped pants or shorts. :woot:  (but I agree on the fur front)

A review from Suzy

Prada bucks the trend for sweet severity

By Suzy Menkes International Herald Tribune[FONT=&quot]

MILAN In a dramatic show, with a hint of the 1980s power woman, Miuccia Prada embraced the modern urban jungle. A video of trees sprouting among classic buildings and flowers opening up erotically made a compelling background to models stomping out on platform shoes, wearing animal prints or patches of fur that clung to their clothes along with hefty visible bras.

"It is the strong and savage aspect of women," said Prada, who managed, as ever, to go right against the grain of the rest of the Milan autumn 2006 season, which is all about restraint and sobriety. Just two things united the disparate creative visions: the use of thick fabrics and a somber palette.

Prada's show was exceptional in its emotional buzz as the hip-hop music of Flash and the Furious Five rapped out "Don't push me - 'cos I'm too close to the edge. It's like a jungle sometimes."

people are so caught up in dissing prada time after ime, that they forget to ask why miuccia prada decided to show leopard print coats, fur, and nylon, and platforms...

..all right, all right! it's a cliche to say, that this is "intellectual fashion", well so what? it is, and not by means of innovative cuts, but expressing something new in a piece of clothing. at least, when the leopard print coat was chosen to be included in the collection i'm sure the thought behind it wasn't, "becuase it's sooo hot!"

i see this season after season, prada is attacked only because of her (and their) name.

..and TFSPD?

All the nylon and the spare embellishment is reminding me a lot of Fall 2004. Just the overall mood of the collection is very reminiscent of that season. I like it, but I keep saying to myself, "That looks like Fall '04, that looks like Fall '04...."

I like the bustiers layered over sweaters, I think it's cute. And just because....uh, Proenza Schlouler didn't invent the bustier, they didn't bring it back, they're not responsible for it's popularity, etc. It's become their signature because they do it every season because they lack other substantial creative ideas. It's not like, oh, Prada's doing a Proenza bustier! There's this same type of comparison on the Outfit Look-Alikes thread. It's like, two designers utilizing a classic dressmaking technique in completely different ways each with a completely different end result, and !OMG!!They Look The Same!!WTF! They don't look similar, Muiccia was not inspired by Proenza Schlouler, and just no.

I'm cranky

I am not sure I agree with this Pastry - can you explain why you think PS have done this......

I am not sure i like this collection much...its seems a bit 'heavy' and not very refined ...chunks of fur, heavy embellishment (not unusual for Prada) and lots of ugly (cheap looking) nylon. Its nowhere near as well done as the spring summer collection which was light & fresh...I am sorry but this just doesn't seem new at all to me. I particularly dislike the animal print.

I can't say I like it much at all. Nothing stands out at all, to me.

I dont like it very much but I wouldn't say it's horrible. The olive ruched bag looks intresting but I can't tell if theres fur attached to it somewhere. The boots were cute too I think.

I love the colours,ahem, black.
The dresses are very beautiful, and so are the the bustiers, esp. with cropped trousers. There is too much fur as you have noted out. But the coat Sasha is wearing is  I have a thing for leopard print :ninja:
Am I only one who likes the shoes..

I saw the whole collection now and I must say I am impressed:-)
That she did choose this direction and didn't make the easy money, while she def. could. It's like Junya with his men collection last month. Bye bye sweet fantasy. Let's face the harder one:-))). Raw, urban, a lot of military green, but very young at heart clothes. The fur things are great with the harder fabrics. I think the fur pocket is dettachable. It's darker, but not gothic comes coustumery like last season.

She is def. two step ahead, I don't know if the customers are up with her, tho. Remember MJ NY collection? He made a good one, too.

! While I wasn't very fond of some of the silhouettes, I found it very interesting...although, 90% of the items in the store will be watered down versions of what's on the runway anyway.
