Prada Mens F/W 10.11 Milan

It's also really nice to watch a Prada video that isn't horrifically cut and edited to a measly 3 minute mess!

Yes, that's what I was thinking too: streaming the show live means we finally will have a descent video from the Prada show  Hope they'll keep the live show concept for the womenswear!

^Oh it's nothing to do with the homosexual clients, those sweaters are girly. They give men a girly waist and a girly figure. And they're pink. Many gay men don't wanna look like that.

Right. It's not that they look too gay, it's that they look too girly. I wouldn't wear them, and I don't know any other gay guys who would wanna pull that off.

It's just too girly.

Well I wouldn't mind one of them. I actually like the proportions they give. But everyone has their preference so whatever.

Aside from the patterned pieces, this is Banana Republic with cropped knits. At least its an accurate reflection of the dull stuff that shows up in the shops here in Chicago.

except for the shrunken pullovers (just pop in a cashmere pullover into the machine for that), it's the most 'normal' show from Prada i've seen in a while (safe for the Cruise and Pre-Fall stuff)

but the light on the runway does NOTHING for the guys. they look like zombies FFS.

well the previous short pullover were nice, since :
- it was summer
- it was more "relax", in a way, larger collar
- and with the oversized tshirt, gave a cool "boys of summer" thingy ...

there it just looks undersized, like it sincerely went into the wrong program in the washing/dry machine.

I'm not so sure it gives good proportions .... But just underlines, you have to b skinny skinny to wear these !
sincerely, I can't imagine myself wearing them ... while I had no serious problem to imagine myself in the summer 2009 ones ... well I was a little lighter past summer ....

resort, pre-fall, cruise .....
this is all the same, isn't it ?

if Suzy is as lost as me .....

no, actually resort = cruise, that's THIS time right now, the F/W stuff is on sale and the Cruise/Resort stuff is the 'new' stuff, before the actual S/S collection arrives in stores.

pre-fall is that time between summer and actual F/W.

i don't think this is the "Cruise" stuff. especially since everyone else is still showing pre-fall for women. maybe she meant this is her pre-fall presentation?

i hate in the video the way they zoom out and show the whole arena/building. i wish they would just focus on one section of the runway the whole time.

I enjoyed scrolling through the collection. I especially love the knit on knit: thick cardigan over a thick sweater.

ok ...........
:ninja:

but is there the pre-spring ? or is it cruise/resort ?

ok i stop.

im yet another person bugged by how many womenswear looks in the show, i counted 13 womenswear looks in a MENSWEAR show, i know D&G used to feature the odd girl or two (like naomi or eva) but this takes the biscuit, the camera work annoyed me because it didnt feature on the clothes, it featured on the set more like 'look at the scale of this' more than look at these knits

the show was a complete bore for me, not that i expected miracles from prada menswear
was it just me or did miucca even make an appearance at the end ?

I just dont understand why she, of all designers, is revisiting the nineties? Miuccia is so progressive in her designs, and she looks to modernity and a sense of 'newness', so why go back all of a sudden?

I certainly expected something more from Prada at the start of the new decade. I thought she would really push things for Fall 2010.

This is a plesant collection, but lets be honest, there is nothing here to stimulate the mind like in her previous collections. The menswear is completely and utterly mundane and besides that, she offered us nothing new. Sure, it was commercial and those suits and jackets will sell well, but on an aesthetic level, there is nothing interesting here.

There are aspects of the collection I liked, such as the shoes (as always), the double collared black coat and the orange print coat. However overall there were too many women's looks and I hated the boxy shaped jumpers/sweaters. I feel like she could've pushed it more, but men's fashion is a lot more restricted to what's going to sell.

Bells and whistles with a cast of a thousand models, too many of them girls who wore more interesting things than the men. Erratic seating and distracting visuals to cover up the fact this is the house's WORST COLLECTION EVER.

Ironic self referencing (Prada) in its heyday and playing a (pleasant) but retro 90's soundtrack says NOTHING about our state of mind here, now in 2010. Especially with the tragedy this week. Shame on you Miuccia Prada. What a waste of a perfect opportunity. I always knew you were just another faux champagne socialist...

BORINGLY BAD. Any of these things are already available at any cheap chain.

From what I've heard, I had expected much worse, but still I'm not a fan. The cut, the fabrics, the patterns are too much for me. I like some pieces, but I don't think this collection is consistent... I expected more from Miuccia... Well, I'll wait for women...

I really don't like those prints. Hope they won't show up again for womenswear. I love some of the shearling jackets though.

Agree 100%.

What bothers me though is the "To Be Continued..." projection at the end. I really hope she doesn't continue this for womenswear Fall 2010!!! Or perhpas she will redeem this by adding some kind of ironic 90's element?

I love the cut of the trousers......just about every pair too.
The printed coats are awful, as are the fitted jumpers and cardigans.
I would not be caught dead in one of those coats.

After taking a closer look at the outfits I'm really, really warming it all up. There's something immensely attractive about these shrunken sweaters and I'm loving all the knitwear, the vintage feeling works so well with the modern background.
