Prada F/W 2011.12 Milan

i loved the collections. it felt like 60s. long haired shag furs... translucent day glow fish scale inspired dresses. I really did love it. Especially the python!

I can't say I appreciated a lot of aspects of this collection:
The fake belts that trapped in the side seams, though I love how they leave the back sack-like I thought they looked naff the way they moved with the rest of the dress.
The large plastic buttons were cute but looked somewhat cheap.
The fake fur applied to the front of the coats and dresses.

But I did think this collection was beautiful.
How the snake print evolved into transparent plastic snake scales, the boots that were designed to appear like shoes worn with socks, the scull-caps in leather and fur, the beautiful super-lightweight blouse-dresses..
It was all beautiful.

This has to be the most wearable Prada collection overall in a while. My favorite collection in Milan so far.

I'm not sure, I never really like Prada but maybe the coats are the only good thing about this collection, the shoeboots are aweful aweful aweful!!!

I quite liked the faux belts. In that they were only an attachment on the front and weren't belting anything, they spoke to the theme of a functional aspect rendered in a purely decorative way. They also gave that front/back dichotomy and created a two-dimensional flatness, a slightly schoolish, cartoonish element.

The buttons I didn't read as cheap looking, but giving a childlike quality. As someone else intimated, relative to AW10/11 certainly, this was a Prada that could perhaps be said to have edged a bit closer to a younger more MiuMiu type aesthetic.

The flat belts remaining on the textured long haired fur pieces gave an interesting juxtaposition - flatness -v- terrain. I thought of The Flintstones.

And generally of Takashi Murakami. I said earlier at speed perhaps the disc pieces might have stemmed from Courreges but perhaps better to suggest circa 1967 Paco Rabanne as the reference.

Although somewhat bland, I really enjoyed this collection. I digested almost every look as it came down the runway.

Even though I'm not in favor of this "plastic" trend resurging this season, I think she did very good execution of the scales.

Dem shoes and coats are uglyyyyy...

I like most of the dresses though, especially those adorable red and white one...unless those were coats? I can't tell.

It's essential Prada. Somehow season after season Miuccia gets more and more crafty. I love the giant buttons.

interesting, seems like this is the season of bling

I wish I had seen more in action, in the middle of the show I lost my internet connection :judge:
the collection feels very prada circa 2003-2005, which I find positive but I thought she was somehow lazy. we've already seen almost everything before, in a different way. I don't mind it as long as it makes me want to see more, but that's not the case yet.
the shoes and acessories are great, especially the gloves (I missed them!). by the way, mariacarla's look was one of my favorites.

i loved it, the ways the scale-y dresses moved, completely had me sold. then, the way the bags were held was just too good!

I love this! It feels very early 00's Prada and you can definitely see the references to her own design aesthetic in this collection, although made modern through updaded colours.

I might be the only one, but I think I prefer this already to her Spring Summer 2011 collection. This seems much more DNA Prada to me and closer to Miuccia's own personal style than her past collection.

I loved this collection instantly from the first look to the last. I said the collection had better be very good if she made people wait an hour to see it. I was not disappointed at all ! The colours were fantastic and the accessories were perfect.

it's very early 00's Prada indeed. love the boots that look like shoes with socks!
only Miuccia could go from geometric prints to snakeskin to fur and scales and make such a coherent, beautiful show. it reminded me of many of my favourite Prada past collections.
