S/S 2012 Ad Campaign Thread #2 (please read rules in post #1)

^ Gisele yes but I don't see Karmen as having a better season than Joan anymore. Chanel and Estee Lauder alone wipes out 3 of Karmens campaigns and the other two are just chicken feed for the other one. So in my opinion Joan had a better season than Karmen

Whaaaaat??? Gucci resort,Gucci, Chloe, Bottega and MK is way better in my opinion...

Well Any girl can get those campaigns with maybe Gucci being the exception... Chanel not so much and for sure as hell not EL or any beauty CONTRACT. but like i said, my opinion... :innocent:

Well since there can only be a Queen, Giselle's the winner.

MCB should be added to that list. OG YSL, Givenchy, Missoni OG, and probably Givenchy Fragrance.

Is it really fair to count the beauty contracts when taking the campaign season into account?? I mean they are guaranteed campaigns as long as the model is under contract. Its harder to get OG YSL than an EL campaign if you have a contract with them.

Yes you have to count it and are you joking when you say it's harder to get YSL OG than an Estee Lauder contract?? My friend...

Just remember that very very few models go through the industry and able to get a beauty contract. NOt just beauty campaign but CONTRACT

sorry but a seasonal contract with any of the big fashion houses cannot compete with a cosmetic contract such as lancome or el. it is way harder to get cosmetic contract than something like chanel, dior, prada(and these are prestigious by all means).

just bc it is a long term contract that doesnt mean we can discount them.

^but do they need to be considered as a campaign when we know it will be there regardless? It isn't as if Joan just got Estee, so i dont see the purpose in counting it. A campaign queen is someone who racks up campaigns each season without a contract imo. We might as well call Lara Stone one since she is the face of about 5 different Calvin Klein lines

Gisele- Salvatore Ferragamo, Givenchy, and Versace
Karmen- Bottega Veneta, Michael Kors, Chloe, and Gucci
Natasha- Prada, Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, H&M, and Dsquared2
Saskia- Chanel, Loewe, and MaxMara
Joan- Calvin Klein Jeans, Chanel, and Lacoste
Karlie- Oscar de la Renta, Elie Saab, Dior Beauty
Constance- John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Sonia Rykiel

in my opinion Natasha Poly is campaign queen. she has the most including 2 where she is the only girl (Proenza Schouler and Dsquared2) and 2 where even though it's MG, she is alone in her shots (H&M and Jil Sander)

^ i agree 100% with this list. but shouldnt MCB be there some where ?

They better make sure the ads look great, i've been waiting for so long! :innocent:

I'm sorry but Proenza and Dsquared are not blue chip campaigns. I think you may be biased. I would consider them mid level campaigns. :innocent:

^I'm not biased at all. I am just stating facts, even though I said IMO. I had no idea Proenza Schouler and Dsquared2 were not considered major campaigns when they are both shot by major photographers. What is mid-level about Proenza Schouler though? If we are willing to get super technical, then Lacoste is not blue chip and neither is Calvin Klein Jeans (so off goes Joan). Might as well take Constance off all together. Bottega Veneta is not blue chip and with a change of photographers I'd say neither is Chloe. So by technicallity in the Fashion Elite Handbook I guess Gisele takes the cake :flower:

U Nailed it...:p

i dont think the choice of models or photographers can be used to determine the prestige of a fashion house. sure, there is bigger chance that blue chip labels use famous photographers or models but famous models and photographers are not what make the house more prestigious. prada, for example, used no name models for their campaigns and i dont think that made them any less prestige as a label.

imo, i think the most important factors that make a fashion house prestigious are their history (how their clothes have changed/influenced the industry, their impacts) and their size( how big they are in term of sale/revenue, marketing power).

calvin klein is definitely not on the level of chanel but the contract it gives to lara is way more prestige than the one that chanel gives to saskia and joan. but then not all ck contracts are prestigious. i think we have to think about substance over form and assess each contract individually.

giselle, is clearly the queen of the season. then saskia, lara, etc.

Proenza's past campaigns i think are not top tier at all, but this is the first season they used a top model and apparently their budget for ad pages has gone up as well.. they are in a transition so its hard to say what prestige the campaign has at the moment (the fact that natasha is fronting the campaign itself has upped its prestige).. but obviously it is nowhere near the level of the top fashion houses.

Am I the only one who thinks that this thread has turned into models.com top rankings with more emphasis on campaigns? :innocent:
