Saint Laurent S/S 2013 Paris

I was expecting something stronger. This is actualy quite soft.
I dont see much impact...other than hype.
I can change my opinion tho.

lol nowfashion. the server must've exceeded any reasonable bandwidth :D

anyway, from what i've seen / im seeing, this looks like he relied heavily on the 70s archives (mixing it here and there with his -boring- 'rock'n'roll' obsession), which is the safest thing he could be doing, and still everyone's gonna cry out for genius, and a new era, avant garde amazingness etc ... which really arent there.

there is no question, from the few images we've seen this IS a true YSL collection

lmao NowFashion crashed.
..

The last thing I'm interested these days, besides minimal s*it, is fantasizing about Anita & Co. or being the groupie of the Dior Homme rockstar from the mid 00s. The hats, florals, ruffles, coats can go.. I'm only keeping my hope on the suits part of this.

well, he's clever, he did exactly what RAf should be doing at CD but he didn't

Hedi is king yeah
I respectfully disagree. From the looks of it, Hedi did exactly the same thing. He applied his own personal vision on some iconic YSL pieces.
The bad thing here is, this particular fusion is quite reminiscent of other things I have seen on the runway years ago, still do once in a while, mainly coming from Cavalli.... Not sure if this rock/hobo chic is as relevant. Pretty and sexy though, it is.

Looks like something Cavalli does. Still I don't understand why Stefano was let go; he was modern but retained the YSL look and YSL's playfulness (the strawberry prints?) Cavalli/Moschino vibe I get here.

This is amazing. Hedi really 'gets' YSL in a way that Stefano Pilati never really did. He also manages to infuse some of his rocker aesthetic into it, so it comes off as fresh and not like some copycat Saint Laurent collection.

I agree with one of the previous posts. This is all hype. I was also expecting something more. I think it's nothing exciting. I miss Stefano. I'm slightly reminded of Alber's previous collections in Lanvin but Alber did it infinitely better.

The shoes leave me cold. this is a cotton candy collection. might seem okay but really there's nothing there.

Bravo, Hedi. Bringing the original Rive gauche woman back to life! I've been waiting for this.

This is a very respectful debut collection for him. Classic Saint Laurent elements all all there. The bows, Look 3 screams out "le smoking", transparent blouses, safari jacket in lesther, that 70's Saint Laurent bohemian flair. It's all there.

Exactly!

Very Saint Laurent, very Riviere Gauche...But I'm not a fan of the huge bow ties, they looks dated.

I'm sorry to disagree but I don't really think his 'rocker' aesthetic is THAT fresh now, in 2012. This is very 70s YSL but i don't care for this one bit (apart from the tailoring of some of the suits and a particular look nothing here excites me) and omg whoever mentioned cavalli: that's what this was reminding me of. :ninja:

I dig what I'm seeing so far...loving the hats this season too.

of course this is all hype
boho was stylistic irrelevant and terribly passe until now

personally i much prefer Stefano Pilati for YSL

It looks way too familiar for comfort... Maybe it´s better on closer inspection, but this is just... ...Topshop?
