i want to live there! it's the best atmosphere for me, i never want to sleep!

wow.... its like perpetual sunrise...

 you're so lucky... do people go nuts from it though? like in Insomnia?

So gorgeous! I can't wait to visit Finland one day.. My grandfather was 100% finnish.. I wish he was still alive so I could learn to speak the language, although I do have a great uncle who is still alive who knows it.. But he only taught me some curse words

Yes people go insane! At least I do ;)

I completely lose sense of time, I'll think it's early afternoon while really it's 11 p.m. I need almost no sleep.
And in the winter it's the complete opposite, so much darkness, and I'm always tired.

I don't have a hard time sleeping cause I have real good curtains which close out the light coming from outside. Many people have a hard time sleeping in summer.

Glad you liked the photos ! It was so beautiful last night so I had to share some photos with you. :)

stars and northern lights

Aurora Borealis above the arctic circle in northern Finland (Lapland)

I've seen the northern lights once in Lapland. It was amazing. You could hear the wind as the lights danced in the skies. It was a bit cold though , -32 to be eact.

According to legend the northern lights were caused by the arctic fox throwing snow into the night sky with it's tail. Others believed it to be the spirits of beautiful maidens of the past.

Wow, those photos are breathtaking! You are a great photographer! Even though it is light, they have a stillness to them that shows the viewer that it's not daytime. I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights too, so special!

I miss the summer light of the North... It doesn't ever get really dark, just a soft hint of dusk/dawn...

It's wonderful to watch the sun rise when it never really sets; I can just picture it rising higher in the pale night sky across the waters... It's magical!

It is........ in front of my window I have a clear view out to the Baltic sea towards Estonia. It's magical !!

Today it's the lighest day of the year. The sun never sets.

Very emotional and breathtaking at least for myself..... summer in the north is amazing.

I'll take a photo from my window towards the Sveaborg sea fortress.

The view from my window. Sorry for it being so blurry as I stuck my hand out of the window to take it.

That is a big park in front of my window and the water-front. The illuminated buildings are part of the fortifications of Sveaborg used to defend the city in the medieval period. This photo was taken at 23.40 PM local time.

Those are wonderfull pictures!!!! :woot: Ive never seen such a thing before, just in films.Thank you for the pictures, the_finn!!!

This impressed me most. I cant believe its real.
