And how Selena is channeling Marilyn Monroe. Nobody notes the irony that the issue (and Selena) also celebrates Latin American/Latinx culture.....

Selena editorial maybe a mess but at least the contents are good. Maybe the best September issue in the US.

Gabriela looks best out of all the designers pictures. "Off The Wall" is also nice, the clash of colors kinda too much, but at least it's not another grey background. Mayowa editorial is the best one in this issue. She's really modelling in every single pictures. Such an underrated model, in the perfect world she should be on every magazine covers. The rest is just fillers. Anna editorial is lovely tho.

The last picture of Lily is embarrassing, so tacky. Save it for Instagram please.

Mayowa Nicholas by Chris Colls may just be the most chic editorial I've seen within the pages of American Elle for quite some months and perhaps Alex White is finally finding her footing at the magazine - first my liking for Selena's cover story and now Mayowa Nicholas!

Chris Colls is the only one who can work (well) with Alex White at Elle. I don't find the Mayowa story perfect from a stylistic point of view, but it's very good overall and the studio imagery is particularly striking.

All the (former?) big creatives who joined Elle had the life and creativity sucked out of their work though - Joe Zee, Carter Smith, Arthur Elgort, Michael Thompson, Mario Sorrenti. So I guess it should be no surprise regarding Alex's lacklustre output, especially in the current day and age. Lori Goldstein was the only one who did good stories and maintained a strong POV. Of course, as luck would have it, she's moved out of editorial and advertising completely now.
