I'm more curious about the other contents of the magazine. I'm finding that lately the editorials NOT done by Meisel (for the most part) are better than the main ed.
To be honest the styling really doesn't appeal to me. It reminds me of Grace Jones / Lady Gaga et al. I miss the days when Meisel was drawing his references from more obscure sources. The whole cover is a cliche for me and the models look terribly bland.
The aesthetics of this are really not my taste, but I somehow really like this cover. Probably because a lot of the other Vogue covers are starting to look like advice magazines for the average North American middle-aged woman. At least this resembles a fashion magazine cover.
I don't know if it was intentional or not, but there's something of a cheapness to it, yet oddly glamorous It's very striking, I don't know in a good or bad way. The best part is to see new girls, even if I don't know which is which!
I actually like the cover. The gloves, the (leather?) head wrap, the make up all reminds me of the 50s, but done in a very modern way. The pose & the lighting are just pure genius! Thanks for the pics & looking forward to the editorials!
I would've never expected Daria to score a VI cover so late in her career. Good for her.
The cover looks interesting composition wise but I'm not really feeling it. I am excited for the main ed though. Can't wait to see how Ylonka and Hind will look.
^ Her career is as long as Karlie's so it's not too late at all. I do understand the shock of seeing Daria with a VI cover though. Meisel shoots her for VI January, then BAM! 4 months later she has the cover. Didn't see it coming, but he can be unpredictable.
My first view is actually who ever in the centre (i dont know the girls) is really in the centre that I didn't notice there is another girl on top of her.... boring cover... need to see the contents...
