Vogue Paris December 2008/January 2009 : Stéphanie de Monaco by Mert & Marcus

She looks very rough in the face not even airbrushing worked entirely, but her body is still amazing.

Thanks for the scans Berlin.

I really love the blk and white stephanie ed.. there is a lot of living and soul in her face... its really beautiful... as for the calendar... its ridiculous... looks like a shoot from Next Top Model... Eniko looks Ok ...i like hers best she looks like shes haing fun with it...... Ali M's pic is the worst... its so wrong on so many levels...

oh. i was trying not to judge by the previews and i didn't want to be influenced by BerlinRocks's opinion, even though i frequently agree with him or at least think he has a good point. but these eds with stéphanie look sooo boring, and it's definitely not the styling. the pictures i like the most are the ones i can't completely see her face, not that i think she's ugly, or that she doesn't look her age, but her facial expressions are so melancholic, and not melancholic in an artistically 'photographers capturing her emotions' way, but in a tired and bored way. she doesn't need too much airbrush, she needs a rest, or maybe it was just a bad day...
merci encore, BerlinRocks.

i loved M&M ed. it's much more intimate and true than Testino's one, where she definitely looks like she's uncomfortable about being photographed. i guess M&M's pictures are just as much about Stephanie's wrinkles as her personality and fashions she's wearing. it's about looking your age not being some photoshopped abstract beauty. kudos to Stephanie for making it feel real and honest!

Thanks Berlin for the scans.

I'm not crazy about any of Stéphanie's ed, but I preffer Testino's. She looks very rough in both of them, a smile would have been nice.

Anyways I don't know her very much.

For me is much better the ed of Testino have good images are more beautifull she look good, in the M&M look auful and the ed is boring

You quoted one of my posts, and I happen to be French... That can't be a coincidence
And you didn't bring up the whole French/Parisian issue, but I did: this is called Vogue Paris, not French Vogue or Vogue France, and how many "parisienne" headlines have we seen on the covers? Clearly VP is more Parisian than French, and using the latter adjective is a shortcut for most people... so all I'm saying is: claiming you love VP when you're French is not necessarily chauvinistic, I don't see what I read in VP in the streets of my city, clearly that magazine is a fantasy more than a reality...

I was quoting your post to just point out that MissDalloway wasn't the only one to feel that way.Sure, I could have quoted hers but I decided to quote yours mainly because it was the last one I read before I decided to post (on the same page as mine) and to point out that I disagreed with yours.I would have pointed you as being chauvinistic if I thought you were.

I agree with your point of view about the whole Parisian identity but it had nothing to do with my original point.

I love both the ads ,Stephanie looks great in these Pictures and She has wonderful Legs .The ads a very different but they both look great. thanks BerlinRocks !!!!! And I hope you are feeling better.

that`s why your name is testinofan...)

Noo no is about this yes im fan of works of Testino and much others photographers but i have objetivity in my opinion is more good Testino ed, much time are very critic about Testino works.

I prefer M&M's for the simple fact that her face isn't photoshopped into oblivion. Magazine's practically venerate men's wrinkly, age-spotted foreheads when they get covers but even Kidman's alien-race-botoxed head gets airbrushed into mannequin perfection.

I like wrinkles! There. I said it :p. She looks older, so what, sh*t happens.

(The last image in the Testino is pretty good (more for the setting than anything else) but I do think the smoothed out face does her no favours. Her face is blank enough as it is erase all the character and all you have is a body stiffly posing.)

I love the cover. Like *ana* pointed out, it's a strong cover, even without eye contact.

I don't like the calendar at all, though. Last years was so great, but this year's is trashy (and yes, I know it's supposed to be trashy, but it's still not appealing).

I just got it today and unfortunately no calendar for me. I don't really like it but I wanted to get it.

You think mailing vogue.fr would help?

^ I think it's because you're a subscriber, they never receive any supplement from what I've gathered... I'm pretty sure that some French subscribers have e-mailed them in the past and received a free supplement so you could always try...

I think Subscribers should allways get supplements/calendars :innocent:

thanks for the scans BerlinRocks Stephanie looks fantastic! I love the shot on the diving board.

The cover is great.

It reminds me of the b&w Sofia Coppola cover done a few years back for Vogue Paris.

yes indeed we all suscribers rarely receive the supplements ... it depends ...
but we all receive the calendar ...
Marcel, I think you should try a letter or a phone call ... no email. I doubt they will reply or in a long time ... if they read ...
If you need help with your french ... well just ask ...

:flower:

A phone call? Too expensive, maybe I'll try a letter. Thanks everyone and also thanks for the offer but I think if they will read my French they will think "oh poor guy, give him the calendar".

^well that's the aim, non ? an effort always makes its mark ...
and i think international phone calls aren't that expensive anymore ... especially aus deutschland nach frankreich
