Vogue Paris December 2009/January 2010 : Laetitia Casta by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

Laetitia's M&M edit is a bit underwhelming. It's too short and each shot is pretty much a replication of the one that precedes it. Also, this reminds me too much of M&M's colossal edit for the September 2007 issue of W, which was inspired by Flemish painting and featured Lara, Sasha, and others.

On the other hand, I must say that I LOVE the photographs of Rose. She works EVERY shot! And the styling is phenomenal. The Grace Jones reference is spot on. I am hoping to see more of Rose in future issues, as she truly is a fierce African queen.

Thanks so much for posting that edit greyeyes! I must, however, admit that I am not at all a fan of it. To me it's just one big bucolic borefest! It just seems so out of place in this issue. I understand that they are trying to channel Laetitia as some French farm maiden, but it just DOES NOT work. I nearly fell asleep looking at these images! I think that this edit may just be too naturalistic for my tastes. The only picture I like is the one of her crouching in the brush, her hair tangled in the weeds. I find it subtly beautiful and elegant. The others, however, are just dull.

Good grief! All the editorials so far are pretty horrid! I'm still keeping my hopes up for the YSL editorial but from what I've seen so far, even that may be... God knows what!

The effects look like almost the same as in the actual Louis Vuitton ad...

I don't think it's out of place at all. It was shot in Lumio, a rural village in Corsica where Laetitia, who has strong links with the island, used to spend her holidays when she was little.
I understand it may not be everybody's taste though.

En Vogue is always a treat for my eyes, I love it. I've always been fond of Grace Jones and the reference is done perfectly.
Both M&M and Cedric Buchet's editorials don't appeal to me one bit. I like the location of Buchet's with the reference to Laetitia's younger years.
Thanks for posting the content greyeyes!

^Ah, okay! That makes sense. I think it could have been a gorgeous, romantic editorial, but all of the shots seem too contrived and staged. Her poses are just stiff, and for me, the whole editorial suffers.

Thanks for the info though taben :)! It's a pity that this didn't turn out the way it should have.

Yves Forever has a lot more of appeal than the other two editorials posted. I like the use of vintage YSL, it all looks superb.
The first shot would of worked well as a cover, in my honest opinion.

Thanks again for posting greyeyes!

I am not at all wowed by the YSL tribute edit. This is supposed to be a homage to YSL, the master of hue, yet in every shot except one Laetitia is wearing black. And were these the only vintage YSL pieces they could find!?! I don't find any of these looks to be particularly interesting or a reflection of YSL's influence as a designer. The only good thing about this editorial is Laetitia's modeling. The sultriness is definitely there, and she manages to add a certain sensuousness to clothes that are, for the most part, far from sexy, surely an arduous task !

I am deeply saddened and disappointed by this holiday issue of VP. Each of Laetitia's editorials had the potential to be great, but they all fell short. Instead, Lara--as always-- stole the show with her single editorial. Too bad for Laetitia.

My god, just like i feared i despise every single Casta editorial posted so far, the woman is simply dead in her photographs to me, she never ever manages to engage or bring anything except the same boring look. She is what i call a limited model!

Apart from the cover, which i love, this just wont cut it for me. Most certianly NOT when we are talking about the double issue, which is also 90th anniversary, epic fail based on what i seen here.

^Sadly, I have to agree. This may be the worst guest-edited holiday issue under Carine's reign as an editor. Maybe Laetitia's edits will grow on me, but right now I am not a fan of anything I see. I hope the February issue is fantastic enough to redeem this.

^I ADORE the shots of Bianca Balti. The styling is just PHENOMENAL! In addition to the Grace Jones En Vogue section and Lara's editorial, they are the best part of the issue.
