Vogue Paris October 2014 : Natasha Poly and Aleksandra by Mario Testino

I am not so much here for Natasha Poly. Never totally got her appeal but this cover is perfect. I hate that it was snapped by Mario Testino though. If all thefashionspot members give like $2-3 he can go on an indefinite leave (maybe a vacation?) and we can have someone else shoot covers and eds. The fashion industry is not giving up on him for some reason that I am yet to find out.

Gosh… that baby is borderline breathtaking (Seinfeld). Plus she looks uncomfortable on the set which isn't endearing. I just end up feeling bad for the kid. Natasha seems to fade into the background but that could be due to the crazily photoshopped Aleksandra. I dunno. There is no charm here.

ugh, I don't know about this one... I kind of prefer the usual covers to this... it's just kind of boring. Natasha doesn't look good in it, her face has so many shadows and it's not shot from a flattering angle.

it's a no from me. sorry emmanuelle.

I don´t enjoy babies on fashion covers so this does nothing for me. I´m not a big follower of Poly so to see her as a mother doesn´t excite me nor make me go "aww" or anything... imo this cover is bland, boring and overall dull.

And why would they photoshop a baby like that?!
fashion gods forbid chubby legs on a fashion mag!

YES! Natasha is one of the few models that has a decade of working in this industry and never stopped also she is able to always be relevant! Can't wait to see the full ed!

October 2013 was definitely the best and strongest issue from Emmanuelle that featured Edita on the cover plus all the eds were made and styled to perfection!

I just hope this year October will be another strong issue from Vogue Paris!!!

there is a different between hate and criticism ! Aleksandra looks so nature and exactly the same as in those pictures Natasha posted on her instargram ! a true fashion fan would not judged on baby legs like what ??

Anyone know who the other model moms featured will be?

I like the fact that's she's breaking away from the "standard" sexy covers of VP, but I just wish they'd use a better image or her in a different pose than this one. I also think the cover needs more color... it's blue eyes, blue fur and skin? Something to contrast that all...

Hmm ... this cover to me is so Carine. Remember she used to be always so into families and babies (Natalia's two covers in 2006, one when she was pregnant the other with her baby) and then she carried that onto CR ... it just looks very dated to me and so cheesy (especially with the blue fur). Like now every celebrity magazine and star just does this whole nude mum + baby look so it's not so special anymore.

And I don't know who is in charge of art direction now at VP but there is always something so off about the text placement and the font colours. Always looks very amateur and 'unfinished'. Sigh ... so whose next after Alt?

I love the fact that Natalia has another cover, but I don't like her expression here. However I live the baby's face, the colors, the setting!

I would imagine it can be difficult to get a great shot of a baby's face. They probably had to compromise on mommy's expression to choose this adorable shot of Aleksandra.

^ I mean they could have easily swapped the expression in with photoshop if they needed to in a studio shoot like that.

I love Natasha and that little baby is just beyond adorable and cute, but this cover doesn't work at all.

The concept of mother and baby sharing a cover might not be the most original, but there's no denying the sheer beauty of the cover shot. I love the expression on baby Aleksandra's face, very natural and she was most likely overwhelmed with what was going on behind Testino's lens. I love how Natasha started her career at Vogue Paris and now enters the next phase of her life on the front of the magazine. Natasha on Vogue Paris will always and forever be a massive thumbs up from me!

Most people don't follow models, and therefore will likely find this cover very odd.
Like I do, even knowing it's Natasha.

I agree. Is this really the best way they could showcase a mother and her baby? They both look so awkward, which I'm sure is 99% due to Testino's photography and then (of course) photoshop.

I don't see the relevance to that statement? there are a lot of people on various publications that most of the general public don't know but buy it because they think it's beautiful and people will think this is beautiful.

You have a gorgeous mother showing off the new love of her life, her child, what isn't beautiful about that? So, no, I don't think that's odd - and Natasha is even more well known because she's now a global ambassador for L'oreal so some people may not know who she is, but will identify with where they have seen her.

It's a sappy, fashionless, cheesy, sub-par and generic picture of a mother and her baby that has no place on the cover of a fashion magazine as prestigious as Vogue Paris.
