Vogue Paris May 2014 : Sophie Marceau by Mario Testino

When did couture editorial becomes boring as hell in vogue paris? I know it sounds cliché, but it is good to be dreamy or surreal or magnificent.
And enough about the Giles. Is he a new Hans Feurer? It seems vogue paris team supposed to have one like these classic 8-90's vibe master photographer. Because their lack of originality or classic archives.
I'm sorry if I seem to being cynical, but man, vogue paris gives every dissapointments in every issues lately.

I still have the cover she was on back in 2003(?) -- anyway, it was much better.

the cover isn't as horrible as people are making out to be...with that said the main issue I have with it is how flat and lifeless Sophie looks despite the intense sea of solid orange behind her. how about a backdrop of reflective glass? i'm a big fan of orange in moderation but if ur gonna go all out you'd better know what ur doin...not the case here.

perhaps in print some contrast with texture or finish will save this cover. they kinda have it with the patent/slick look of the maryjanes. a glowy, flushed face, ribbed/textured sweater or socks, shiny, wind-blown hair, movement to match that sporty vibe, anything to break up the one-dimensional look of the photograph.

a more playful, spaced out text that didn't box in the model so much would've helped too.

Even tho Sophie's legs look overly re-touched, I do like that full body shot for change rather than the typical celeb close-up.

is Sophie's half-dressed school girl look an emerging trend i'm not aware of?

Curious to see how her main edit turned out.

Some really nice edits in this issue; Un Week-End & Tribal!

Imaan nailed her edit and would have loved to have seen her on the cover. Andreea Diaconu looks stunning in Bronzage Culturel.

Thanks to everyone for sharing the edits!

i absolutely love Karlie's editorial! beautiful and fun shots. i just really don't understand why they decided to put Andreea in the ed, with only 2 images? i can't stand when magazines do that (Vogue US does it a lot). if a model is only going to get 1-2 shots and another gets the rest, what's the point?

Why do people keep mentioning the 2007 cover like it's some sort of masterpiece? It's baffling how short are people's memories when this particular magazine is concerned. No one particularly liked it when it came out, why the love now? Isn't it not very Elle anymore?

Love Anja's ed.
