Vogue Paris October 2014 : Natasha Poly and Aleksandra by Mario Testino

It's a sappy, fashionless, cheesy, sub-par and generic picture of a mother and her baby that has no place on the cover of a fashion magazine as prestigious as Vogue Paris.

I don't get why a mother and her baby can't be on the cover of Vogue. Why don't they have a place on the cover? I think it's a beautiful statement that FASHION is for everyone ( teens, moms, babies ++). I don't think the cover should be limited to models oozing sex appeal and seduction. I still think it's a beautiful cover and it's definitely one of Emmanuelle's best

Awww..... what a sweet baby! I'm a bit of a sucker for 'fashion family portraits' so I quite like this cover. Both mother and child look very beautiful.

not a bad cover for me,but the content sounds boring, they really need some new blood

ugh, editorials featuring 'Anja Rubik, Saskia de Brauw, Andreea Diaconu and Karlie Kloss'....... how boring....

Alt's blatant racism and use of the same boring models over and over (except Saskia) is starting to get so old...

Honestly, I think it's more to do with the fact that the image itself isn't "fashionable"? It's awkward and messy. Natasha looks like she's holding a sack of potatoes instead of her own daughter (which honestly, I don't think has anything to do with *her* as a model, etc).

Here's a cover with a model and baby done right, IMO:

paperpursuits

Hell, you can't even see any clothes and it feels 100% appropriate for Vogue, rather than this mess.

Also, i hate how 'beachy' Vogue Paris has become under Alt's command.. i feel like every month there is a stale editorial of Karlie Kloss running around on a beach...

Plus, it feels repetitive. Carine did it in 2006, it was also shot by Testino and I think it was the October issue too... How original. At least, they could have changed the photographer.

It's also quite weird that Natasha didn't have a single cover these last years and now she has two in just four months.

EXACTLY!!

I just got the issue. I don't have time to write a review as I just got back from the office a few minutes ago; but here are some previews. Lovely issue overall and that "Sur la route" ed by Sims styled by McKenna is one of the best things I've seen in VP in recent times.

I think it's definitely Testino's fault that the cover is a flop. His photography just doesn't have any "depth" to it. His shots almost always look like portraits that you have done at the mall by some amateur photographer. That's definitely the case here.

I can't wait to see Natasha + Aleksandra editorial, they look amazing. The baby is so photogenic, a model in the making.

Thanks Frenchy!! Ach no!! Does Bérénice Bejo only have one shot? I'm not overly excited about this issue.

I don't really care if there is a baby on the cover ... But if I see a model posing with her child, I want to feel the motherhood feelings in there, not a supermodel posing and a random baby. They don't interact at all ... I guess there's a picture in the editorial where they at least smile at each other, or at least Natasha's looking at her child. Non ?

I don't know I want something like the two lying on the floor, with Natasha "throwing" her daughter in the air. I don't know something more joyful, something Iike in post #66

... This, here, is toooooo uptight ! And in a way makes me feel like Natasha is going through a postpartum blues ....

But anyway, congratulations to Natasha ... I had no idea she had a baby.

Sur la route looks gorgeous ...
Merci TheFrenchy.
