W March 2017 by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

^The Ed is amazing, i really like this issue, (apart from Taraji's photoshop disaster)

Belle de nuit is amazing .. I've never really cared that much for Kate but to me some of her more interesting work has come sporadically now that she's older when she gets to do these cinematic stories, her presence is like no other model and it reminds you why she's still on top of her game.

They could've chosen one of these shots for the cover, but no, of course they went for an image that reminds you of the brief bland years somewhere before 2000 but not quite the 90s anymore, where everything started leaning towards celebrities so you had these rushed groupings in one page almost like a 'win win' apology for the rest of the months featuring Gwyneth and Meg Ryan. Kate does look digitally constructed (lol), it could easily be an outtake from her L'Oreal campaign in 1998.. and Jennifer looks younger than she did in her Selena days. The question is probably not so much who this is aimed at but who W finds incapable of handling the image of women outside outside the 14-22 range. I would say the issue's mostly inside their office....

I'm thrilled for Belle de Nuit story. Not a fan of Kate in editorials, she's got skills of course, she's a good model, but she's too mch of a public figure and that might the reason why I have trouble to like her in fashion pictures... but here is a ig yes, a big exception

the editorial of Mert & Marcus look very Meisel

I like the combined group of two different sides of fashion: designing and modeling, then we have an actress and a musician. Something for everyone.

A fantastic lineup of covers subjects but everything falls completely flat. I'm with tigerrogue and would've actually preferred multiple covers for the first time ever! I don't think the cover is as bad as everyone is making it out to be, and I do like the use of Versace and the overall look (very Versace by Mario Testino indeed). However, the portraits of the ladies and Kate Moss' story by Mert & Marcus are just.. meh!

I wonder why magazine are all of a sudden jumping on model competitions. It's not as though there's any shortage of models. And they won't consistently back these girls either....

I recall a V magazine winner, Amanda Laine. She did rather well, although I don't know what happened to her.

It's a publicity gimmick, even VP is doing it now. If I remember correctly this is the 3rd or 4th W model competition winner, and apart for the editorial promised when entering the contest none of them have done anything notable afterwards.

^Yes. Publicity and reader engagement.
I think it's like a reality show within a magazine.

Just got my copy of March issue today, a big surprise in this issue is that there is an editorial features a Chinese male named Zhengyang Zhang, does anyone know him?? This ed is shot by SM, and styled by Edward, the whole ed looks so STUNNING!!!!!

That Kate editorial is the best thing she has done in years  It's so good to finally see her doing something different.
