^Is that actually verifiable? Or is that just another overinflated statement akin to Mr. Toledano's remark that "every piece" from Gaytten's couture collection got sold.

I think the reason Phoebe would be great at LV is because of her proven knack for creating AMAZING accessories. The bags she did at Chloe and Celine were incredible and I think she'd be great at LV, but I doubt they would make her leave Celine. She has done wonders for the brand in such a short period of time. It would be stupid to make her leave.

Im not happy about Jacobs in Dior simply because in Dior they will peoblably limitate Jacobs work what didnt heapen in LV!!

Economic news told top profits of Billions while Galliano was in the Dior house.

And after see Kathy Perry wear that horrible garment from Dior couture by Gaytten it is sure that bad taste is universal and expensive that is why that collection was supposedly all sold.

i feel like the christian dior label has run it's course, i really don't care what lvmh does with this house, though i'm sure it will be atrocious. Galliano made dior relevant, but i'm sure lvmh has no problem spending millions on pr to make marc jacobs' dior relevant. it will be a sad day when marc jacobs, a designer who, in my opinion, is passing-through, becomes a couturier.

^ pr can do wonders. just look at chiuri & piccioli at valentino, to name one house that has couture. but i could go on for hours.

I think at best Marc Jacobs makes clothes for streetwear. Couture just isn't his thing. I can't imagine him at Dior.

Just because Marc has never done couture, doesn't mean he's not capable of doing it. IMO some of his designs could as well have made a really lovely couture looks.

Besides, I can't help being excited for this change, because that would actually mean I will wait for a Christian Dior show again, and I might even enjoy it.

precisely, marc jacobs' couture would be his ready-to-wear w/ extra sequins. :flower:

Some posters in this thread have such a convoluted and inaccurate idea of what couture is.

COUTURE IS NOT A LOOK

It is a means of making custom clothing and a standard of technical excellence. A t-shirt could be couture. And not to defend Jacobs, because I don't care for him being at Dior, but Marc Jacobs Collection is beautifully done. It is really some of the most exquisite ready to wear you can buy and he uses some of the finest factories to make it. He could very well do couture at Dior.

^Pretty sure most people are aware of Couture not being a look. Yet if we look at Dior's history of Haute Couture I think we can all agree that we do associate it with a certain look that has nothing to do with beautifully crafted t-shirts and boring dresses à la Armani Privé. Expectations for a Dior HC collection are rather high in spite of the last few collection having been more or less just a hot mess. If Galliano's successor sucks at doing a Couture collection that is still very Dior then he's not worthy of being at Dior, IMO. :ninja:

that!it's like the true meaning of HC got lost somewhere between the last two decades

I do realize couture it's not just about the look, but it certainly does involve a more sophisticated and sublime visual aspect, and by my post I was referring to Marc's ability of doing more than just the streetwear clothing.

How about Christian Lacroix?! I mean he's perfect for Dior's HC! ^_^

I miss that guy!

Yes! Please! I have been pushing for Lacroix all along but get told he is too old and not sexy enough!
IMO that is ridiculous. The man is extremely talented, creative and knows Haute Couture!
If you need proof just wander back through his collections.
It would not surprise me if DIOR hasn't already got him on their list. At the top!;)
Thank you Vladita!!

I don't know if anybody has nominated Christian Lacroix for Dior but I quite think he would be perfect for the house. Couture is his main strenght and he can handle RTW without being too unsellable. Besides, he has an American fanbase and succeded in attracting a younger audience such as Kirsten Dunst, Thandie Newton and Chloë Sevigny. It's a shame Mr Arnault and Sidney Toledano haven't considered him still :(

The more I think about it, the more this MJ@Dior thing makes sense...I mean, I can't see before me what he will create at Couture. It's really exciting! He has never failed before (well, to me anyway, I like his Warholian vampire ways), but nobody can really imagine the Couture he will deliver.

Do or die.
ITA! karma!:heart::heart:

His own house was set up by LVMH (Arnault surely won't hire a designer of whom he knows that he doesn't sell well) and he said he's happy not doing fashion anymore. So I guess we're not going to see this one....

What are you looking forward to this week in New York? Which designers stand out to you?

Anna Dello Russo: Fashion is a creativity tsunami. Alex Wang–the young generation loves him like we used to love Helmut Lang. He has the power. This little kid is the one. And you see Marc Jacobs has had this brilliant career and now he’s going to Dior. He’s one of the five designers of the century.

What? Marc for Dior? He's perfect for LV!! Why to change that? I don't feel that he is a good choice for Dior. I don't thing he is so much romantic, classic, chic, "parisian" designer. With LV he can push things into different directions. And LV is more American/glogal/money brand (if you know what I mean). They are famous because of the logo, bags and other accesories and the clothes were never that important (at least IMO). That's why Marc did a great job there. He could play with it a lot, collaborate with artist, ... Dior is completely different. Dior has amazing legacy, fabulous history and amazing clothes in archives. I don't think that Marc will be able to play with it as much as he did in LV. And plus Dior has HC. I don't like this news but I keep my fingers crossed for him. I hope, I'm wrong.

Ps. it means that he will leave LV, right? But who will do LV then?
