^Is that actually verifiable? Or is that just another overinflated statement akin to Mr. Toledano's remark that "every piece" from Gaytten's couture collection got sold.

Just because Marc has never done couture, doesn't mean he's not capable of doing it. IMO some of his designs could as well have made a really lovely couture looks.
Besides, I can't help being excited for this change, because that would actually mean I will wait for a Christian Dior show again, and I might even enjoy it.
that!it's like the true meaning of HC got lost somewhere between the last two decadesSome posters in this thread have such a convoluted and inaccurate idea of what couture is.
COUTURE IS NOT A LOOK
It is a means of making custom clothing and a standard of technical excellence. A t-shirt could be couture. And not to defend Jacobs, because I don't care for him being at Dior, but Marc Jacobs Collection is beautifully done. It is really some of the most exquisite ready to wear you can buy and he uses some of the finest factories to make it. He could very well do couture at Dior.
How about Christian Lacroix?! I mean he's perfect for Dior's HC!
I miss that guy!
ITA! karma! The more I think about it, the more this MJ@Dior thing makes sense...I mean, I can't see before me what he will create at Couture. It's really exciting! He has never failed before (well, to me anyway, I like his Warholian vampire ways), but nobody can really imagine the Couture he will deliver.
Do or die.
What are you looking forward to this week in New York? Which designers stand out to you?
Anna Dello Russo: Fashion is a creativity tsunami. Alex Wang–the young generation loves him like we used to love Helmut Lang. He has the power. This little kid is the one. And you see Marc Jacobs has had this brilliant career and now he’s going to Dior. He’s one of the five designers of the century.
