Who Will Succeed John Galliano At Dior? #2 *Update Raf Simons Offically Hired*

It does make sense. It's the only thing that could top Galliano. And it would explain why there had to be a break....a blank season.

I find MJ to be hit or miss for LV so I wouldn't be sad to see him leave the house and give someone else a chance. However, I don't know if I like the idea of him for Dior either.

I guess another way to say it would be, I'm not a fan of MJ, lol.

i'm a huge MJ fan, im so so with LV....but i feel exactly the same way. it would turn the fashion world on it's head though, and possibly spark a resurgence of the LV house....i think it'd be terribly interesting to see....although Mj is definitely not my choice at all when I think dior...but i think he could potentially pull it off...

They are saying MJ might possibly oversee Dior AND LV! Along with his own line i would worry about total burnout?! Though I think he could handle Dior beautifully. Wow.

Marc Jacobs doing couture..... *shudder*

i was worried (seeing the other posts) that i was the only one terrified and rather disgusted by the thought of marc doing couture. I mean im generally a fan of his work (it's very hit or miss for me) but I can't see him at dior. especially couture.

He cannot possibly oversee three brands of that magnitude and be the true creative force for all three, so if it plays out that way, he will pretty much be a figurehead at one or more of the houses, and I dunno, if you are going the figurehead route, I would rather see someone like Gaultier, Tisci or Tom Ford.

He should drop LV if he takes Dior. He's done terrific things for that glorified luggage brand, time to move on.

it's going to be weird to see anyone doing anything at CD besides galliano...
i mean...
it's SO galliano right now...
how would any other established designer deal with that?
what are they gonna do- copy old galliano stuff?
copy old Dior originals...

this isn't going to be easy for anyone...
i don't think i would even want to go there if i were an established designer...
for someone less prominent-
well- that's a horse of a different colour...
it would mean the opportunity of a lifetime...

i think that is the way that i would go if the decision were up to me...
:innocent:...

Poor Riccardo Tisci to have his hopes led on like a leash on an animal is inhumane. I think he's talented enough although other designers maybe just as skilled or better. But why not let him prove himself I mean this is just to cruel to drag this out for so long.

Tisci is too "DARK and SERIOUS" to be at Dior
Dior needs a serious lady yet with humorous Parisian touch.

i think the best 2 candidates imo are gaultier and lacroix. but if i have to choose one i would go for gaultier bc i see gaultier as a risk taker compared to lacroix. lacroix is too conservative for the house of dior in my view.

^ but it seems like 'conservative' is what soledano is mostly about these days. lacroix at dior (therefore doing couture again!) would be a dream

Galliano has presented some dark collections for Dior before. It wouldn't be that far of a stretch for Tisci's aesthetic to fit into the French house.

A few months ago, it seemed Tisci was a shoe in, but it isn't that way anymore. I would not want to see Marc Jacobs at Dior. He can't even imagine original ideas at Louis Vuitton, let alone for Dior Couture.

The idea of a designer taking helm at three labels or more, with resort/pre-fall and couture collections at hand, really puts me off. Azzedine Alaia has been speaking out in regards to the pace of fashion is heading and he is correct about how the industry is moving far too fast and churning out too many collections in a year. Jacobs would be creatively and physically exhausted before he knows it. Yes, Karl seems to be handling Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld and Fendi well. However, I would much prefer to see someone devote all they have to Dior alone and nothing else.
