Yohji Yamamoto

looks like my closet...
...

plyy makes sense...there is always some play on YY with all the names...
in this case i think it works very well...
thanks for pointing that out!

now that the fall stuff is starting to be out, i have realized that YY and +noir were both showed on the paris runway and the things i really want for everyday wear turn out to be + noir, once again...

i have yet to see anyone carrying the kimono coat with the red lining...
i must say that thing makes my heart skip a beat every time i see a pic of it...
...

i'm sure it's $$$$$
:ninja:

shirt and wrap pant from YY +noir
totokaelo

:argg:

i LOVE the shirt because it has the crispness of a white cotton shirt but the ease of a pullover top...
FINALLY- a white shirt i can feel comfortable in...!!!...

and i love the pants because they satisfy my boy meets girl needs in one shot...
sleek and elegant coming...
cool and casual going...

which kimono coat ? is it what we can see in the +noir lookbook ?

no- not that one...
it's from the main collection...
look 7...
i can't tell for sure, but i think the lining may be red velvet...
i love this whole look...
though i can't really tell what the skirt(?) is like...
the coat is just stunning...imo...
like a super luxury kimono bathrobe / boxing robe...
could be amazing with a pair of boxing boots actually...
:innocent:...

so i had the chance to try on both the top and the wrap pant...
the top runs HUGE!...
even the size 1 was roomy...

it wasn't at all what i imagined but the collar is AMAZING...
have to think about that one some more...

i like the pants very much...
they come much longer on me...
almost to the floor, so it looks like a long skirt from the front...
- the way it was shown on the runway...
i just don't know what shoes i would wear with them...
:ermm:...

must think about that more as well...

oh man!
how cool is that~!!!

that is what my comme comme polka dot linen skirt is like, in a way...
at least that is what the strap is like...
the skirt is really a western style...

i LOVE that image...
thank you so much runner, dear...
...

japan and everything japanese is pretty awesome...
including YOU!
^_^

thanks captain

this year autumn seems to have come properly and it is a bit chilly in the evening these days.
apparently everyone started getting interested in things that look warm and cozy.
just checked it today. the black/red coat is almost sold out. that is, there are still 8 of it left at the stores all over japan but all being held for the customers.
therefore we cannot see any of it hanging/displayed in the retail space at the moment. and there are other customers already waiting behind for those 8 persons to cancel the reservations. the YY staff asserted it is unlikely for it to be back for public sale.

( or I guess it's not temperature but some magazine somewhere that might have featured the coat just recently )

wow-
thanks for that info runner...

it took me a few days to recover from that news...
i have mixed emotions...
makes me quite sad that i will never see that coat in person...
but also glad that it is being appreciated so well by others...

i suppose it is really likely to be most appreciated in japan where it is still not uncommon to see women in kimono...
whereas, here, it would be rather a spectacle...
i suppose it will find its way into some good homes anyway...

i will not easily forget it, though...
i am still thinking about the YY pom pom coat from years ago...
the one that had just the one red pom pom...
though they are both quite different, they both have a similar effect on my soul...
:heart::heart::heart:

thanks runner, dear...
*i'd love to see it used in an editorial, pls do post it if you find it...

xxx

at least i bought the YY cape while i was in tokyo!
the weather is just getting cool here as well
time to start to wear it again...

:zorro:...:P......

what about the hat from the runway...
any info on that runner?
:innocent:

thanks for all of these...

so the red lining is silk...i see...
it's very nice...
i love it very much...
the hood makes it so much less formal and so much easier to wear in real life...
...

holy mackerel!!!
i just checked the price...!!!
...
OUCH...

...

i checked both those sites now, though i confess i don't usually look at them...
lvm seems to have selected a very good group of pieces...
there is a blue version of the white shirt that seems like the most amazing fabric...
i wonder if it is an exclusive for them?

i'm not so sure about those wrap pants from the back...
even the way they look in the picture is that the strap is pulling in an uncomfortable way and would need to be adjusted constantly...
reminds me of the apron/jumper i have...
:ninja:...
looks really cool but is a bit tricky to wear...
probably if it was with a knit top (like on the runway), the strap would "grab on" and not slide as much as it would on a cotton shirt...
that may be the trick with the jumper as well...
:ermm:...

thanks for the editorial pic, runner...
seems like they could have done more with such an amazing look...
:innocent:...

(so funny how they call the socks - flip flop socks......)

*am i blind or am i just missing it- does anyone have the runway hat?

if european stores bought the coat, there is still a possibility we will come across it at yoox someday ?

although we happened to find the velvet kimono used in the love magazine, I don't think japanese women had checked that basically, since it is rather unfamiliar over here. so, if the hooded one had been featured and they had seen it, there should be another editorial somewhere.

the blue shirt, what the site calls "DRAPED COTTON GAUZE SHIRT" ?
I don't think it's an exclusive for them, since it looks like the one used with look 15.

apparently the hat is not listed at both sites. it may be just like lvm doesn't sell the wrap pants there while they used them for the shoot. or I guess, from the way the model wears the hat, it is there to make her impersonal.
will check japanese stores and report back tomorrow.

found these from leslie kee "super yohji yamamoto vol.3"

part of the collection seems to be made out of a collective afterimage of scenes like these.

the hat comes in one size and is available in two colors, black and white.
they produced some of the black and there is only one left over here at the moment.
the white version went into production, but only one shop manager bought one. so it ended up 1 of 1. didn't ask if it was sold or not.

talked about the coat. apparently it's neither temperature nor magazines. it's all the hardcore customers who had already decided to take it right after the show. some of them even flied over to attend the show. I guess it was especially beautiful in person in movement.

thanks for all the images and info here runner...
i went to IF to check what they have and try on some stuff...
they don't have the hooded coat with red lining but they do have the shorter one pictured in the editorial above...
they also have the one that wraps around...
i tried them both on...
the wrap is SUPER long...and way too much fabric to deal with...
the salesperson way chasing after me to keep it from dragging on the floor...
*since i do not have personal slaves, i do not think this is a practical thing for me...
...
the shorter one is maybe TOO practical...
it's very functional, but not so special...
it really needs to have the hood to make my heart sing...
...

it makes sense that it would be yohji's hardcore customers who would be after that piece...and if they have it, then i am sure they will give it a good home...
thanks for finding that out runner...
:flower:

i'm glad that i got to at least see these other pieces in person and touch them and try them...
tbh- the red silk is not what i imagined...
i would have preferred a deeper red...
but maybe this is closer to a vermillion...not quite the shade of a persimmon, but definitely a warm red...
and more like a washed chiffon than a kimono silk...
so it's ok if it goes to live with someone else now...
^_^

IF also had the hat but they sold it already...
:(......

so, i tried on a couple of blazers with kimono sleeves and found a really good one but not in my size......
it's this one...
kimono sleeves- short, fitted jacket, and two slits in front so you can put your hands in your pockets smoothly...
it's AMAZING!!!
if i remember correctly, it's longer in the back- like a tail coat...
i tried on a few styles, but the slits in front just sold me...
the contours of the jacket matched my shape just right...
and it is the kind of thing you could really wear in real life...
perfect east meets west balance...
good in formal style or casual wear...
sugoi...
