Your personal fashion rules

2. If you are unsure of an outfit, wear it anyway. If people stare toss the outfit aside at the end of the day and call it "a learning experience":woot:

Hah, nice!

my daily rules:
-never heels with mini-skirts
-never white together with pink/baby-blue
-never more than one clothing item in the same fabric (eg. not dongeri jeans and dongeri jacket together)
-not dress like i feel uncomfortable

and this special rule when i'm playing gigs with my band:
-NEVER, NEVER, NEVER converse-shoes with skinny jeans (looks SO wannabe ramones-rock-chic  )

at gigs, another rule:
-dress girly!

it's because i love the contrast of me looking girly and innocente, but still playing an el-guitar and screaming at stage.

Never wear A&F!!!!!!:yuk:

Amen!

Others:

  • No leggings
  • Logomania is gross
  • dresses as often as possible
  • mix high and low fashion
  • Juicy Coture is gross
  • For that matter, 99% of west coast wanabe style is gross
  • those awful fake bags, like the LV ones without the LV=
  • Fanny packs...I could go on!
  • never ever ever EVER have anyone be able to mistake you for a Hilton! :yuk::sick:
Pos. stuff
  1. Always be true to your style....otherwise

Hm... maybe I've already posted in here, but I don't have the time to switch thru 10 pages, heh.

So...

No white socks!

No Lacoste sneakers! (Those Gabba-kids in Vienna TOTALLY destroyed them)

No Jeans that end before the ankle! (It ain't the 80's anymore)

DON'T look to made up. There's a certain flair of savoir-faire and connaisance when you look like just picked out anything out of your closet at random and still look good, even though you might have stood in front of the mirror, thinking which look looks less like "4-Hour-Debate-With-Myself"... Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

When you wear loafers with chinos or jeans, don't wear socks in summer. It looks.... conservative! *Ew*

I always try to wear one item which breaks the color code I'm usually wearing (Like a bright green belt to a blue jean/blue polo/white tee mix)

Be a free spirit! And even if you're not, try to look like one. Free spirits are chic!

Can't think of more now.

I dont follow any traditional rules for example "no white after labor day (I always thought that was a useless rule) or no wearing brown shoes with black pants (I don't think it looks that bad.) Each persons rules need to be different and I have a few regardin what looks best on me but other than that I'm free!

Brown/tan shoes with grey/brown/khaki pants

Never black. The darkest color I wear is a very dark grey.

Plain silk tie or simple dotted pattern.
Fitted but never skin tight.
The tie must be darker than the shirt.

I always get my shirts sleeves tailored.

the most important rule of all-

dress to flatter your body type and coloring first, and to follow fashion second!

First and foremost, never mix your prints. It works on a runway, not in reality.

I try not to mix black and navy although I have a midnight blue dress shirt that I wear with a black suit and monochromatic tie, so I guess I break that rule.

No socks with open shoes, ever.

No red and orange together, it's too garish looking.

No white socks with dress shoes!
These are a few I'd break.

• I try to mix patterns, but I follow a very, very good article on pattern-mixing from an old magazine, which I have kept.
• I do mix black and navy; I'm careful about it though and try to keep it chic and not too busy. Patterns with both colors are helpful.
• I love socks with peep-toe shoes and certain other types of shoes. Some open shoes scream "Dork"/"Fashion-challenged!" with socks on but others can be very cheeky and cute.
• I wear unexpected colors together and, yes, it includes red and orange. I often try to have one piece with both colors to center the outfit though.
• Depends on the dress shoe. Some look good with white socks. Depends on the overall look of your outfit, too.

Also, my main one:
• No logos for fashion designers, and no logos for anything else unless I support it in all ways possible (such as, I WOULD wear band logos and movie logos if I like the band/movie).

^^Absolutely, I agree 100%.....Follow that rule and you can't go too far wrong!!

I totally agree that dressing for your body-type is the key. A lot of people where I live miss the boat on that one.

The only rules I really follow are :

- avoiding the "visible panty line"
- avoiding anything that's ill fitting (too tight, too loose)
- and I don't know if this is a "rule" but I avoid white pants, 'cause they don't make me feel groovy. It's a rule for me I guess.

i just never wear the same outfit twice in the same week..

Don't show too much bare skin.
Don't wear your plastic flip flops to city.
Try to find fitting clothing.

my rules:

1.) All skirts/dresses/shorts-must hit above the knee! suprisingly i look terrible (fat calves) in anything else, and i am short.
2.) Nothing that is too trendy or an "it" item for the season: ie cotton leggings, tulip skirts, back when peasants skirts were popular i avoided those too, but i don't like them anywayetc... i did almost buy a fanny pack though ahahahaha
3.) no capri pants
4.) i feel most confident when i feel subtly sexy-so that is normally what i aim for
5.) Trashy is ok! i love wearing vintage lingerie as a dress etc...but not without a jacket. and i sometimes wear jean vests, and a lot of eye makeup too
6.) Fake eyelashes, but subtly so it is not noticable. haha i must seem like the trashiest person ever, i'm not, i swear!
7.) my hair is naturally brown, but i keep it very black-i look much better.
8.) no tanning.
9.) NO BAND T-shirts, actually no t-shirts in general, really.
10.) i am trying to get out of looking like i am wearing a period costume, but it is hard when i wear vintage.
11.) ONLY SECOND HAND CLOTHING
12.) denim on denim: DONE CORRECTLY is fine IMO:flower:
13.) pretty much, i just try to have fun but still feel good about myself
14.) proportions are key too, haven't gotten this down yet.
15.) i also like monochrome and navy w/black.
16.) i could go on forever so i'll shut up now.

I think my main one is to buy and wear classic pieces rather than trends that come and go in a heartbeat

NO denim jackets/vests/tops/anything else with jeans :yuk:.
No midriff-showing tops. Ever.
No g-strings with low-rise pants. Not a good view!
No shiny/glittery/pink/heavily coloured lip gloss. Or no lip gloss period. I wear lip balm for extremely subtle shine and a non-dry pout :flower:.
Always a bra, no excuses :p.
Always socks with sneakers.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand... that's really... :D about it!

My basic rule: keep it simple. Just because I have a lot of clothes does not mean I have to wear them all together...hate that..

Don't stick to rules. Wear what you feel great in. Forget the rest - you're the best! :woot:
